The left is coming for all private life, for all family life, for all private business...for anything not controlled by the state. In fact, the left has been so effective that they pretty much have it all now.

I could never have imagined 6 months ago that Americans would have stood for something like this.

Right. Their little test run was axing Columbus Day to a more PC event. It pretty much worked. Thanks to tech (Google), it automatically populated on calendars, and the kids have picked it up. They don’t even know what “indigenous” means.

“...Does everyone remember, back in the beginning, restrictions were put in place, to “flatten the curve”, so that hospitals and healthcare providers would not be overwhelmed???
And the thinking was that restrictions would last for a couple of weeks to get things under control??
And yet here we are, months later, still grappling with restrictions, and with restrictions to last indefinitely, at least in some parts of the country.
And all of this for a virus which is not going to be fatal in the vast majority of cases....”

Exactly.
This BS is almost as insidious as the original federal income tax roll-out.

NO NO NO.

We’ve already agreed to get together at my brother’s home and will proceed to the very private backyard to celebrate.

Christmas will be at my home, same thing, house set back, high walls around the backyard.

We Will Not Cancel.

I enjoyed your post for that historical part about polio. It’s so spot on.

***Protect the vulnerable, but let otherwise healthy people live their lives, including holiday celebrations.***

I know we are all saying this, and meaning well, but at this stage of the “game”, I can say that our elderly, who may be the most vulnerable, are done with this “protection.” They want to be visited and included. They want and need hugs from family. They need our companionship.

I am darn tired of walking around on pins and needles. I’m in perfectly good health at the age of 60. Two of our children want us to wear masks everywhere, including outside. They tell us we are being cavalier by not wearing masks. They are treating us like we are 95 and frail and wobbly. It’s ridiculous. I’ve told them to stuff it in very polite terms.

Gavin Newsom To Go Undercover As A Turkey To Catch Families Celebrating Thanksgiving This Year

Babylon Bee ^ | Oct 21 2020 | Babylon Bee

SACRAMENTO, CA—Gavin Newsom has announced a plan to go undercover as a turkey to catch families who are celebrating Thanksgiving this year.

Newsom will dress in a large turkey costume and infiltrate family gatherings, checking to make sure families aren’t violating any of his orders.

The governor participated in a trial run of his plan, infiltrating a mock Thanksgiving dinner at the governor’s sprawling mansion estate. “Gobble gobble,” Newsom said as he casually slipped in through the door. “Gobble? Gobble!”

He tried to blend in with the Thanksgiving decorations set throughout the room as he monitored guests to make sure they were social distancing, logging into the family’s Thanksgiving dinner sign-in sheet, and not sharing any food.

Unfortunately, Newsom broke character when he saw someone double-dip a chip, screaming, “YOU’RE OFFENDING SCIENCE!!!” and the plot was foiled.

Should you cancel Thanksgiving?
Only if you are a member of the Biden household!

Thank you for the nice comments. I visited my parents this past weekend--my mom was celebrating her 80th birthday. I don't get to see them much because we live in different states, and my parents don't travel well.

My mom is in a high-risk group, at 80 years of age. She has COPD, and has had respiratory issues for years. Many of her friends and family are dying off, so when I proposed a visit, she welcomed it. She is not one for technology--a Zoom call is no replacement for an in-person hug.

Both of my parents and my FIL have passed, so all we have left in that regard is my 92 year old MIL. She is still (amazingly!) tech savvy if all she has to do is press the screen of her cell phone or iPad. What she has trouble with is toggling switches. Still, she very much prefers in home visits to the FaceTime type call. Who doesn’t?

We have tried to have only her own children visit her one at a time on different weeks. Thanksgiving will be a little different, because my husband and I will fly to see her, and one son plans to drive. I haven’t seen her in person in over a year, so I very much look forward to this visit. I can’t wait to cook a lovely Thanksgiving dinner for her and us. She has decent pre-prepared meals most of the time, but the home cooked ones are the best!

I will see family at Thanksgiving. I plan to prolong my life, not delay my death. Fauci doesn’t understand the difference.
