Schumer loses 48-42 in bid to shutdown Senate…

Chuck Schumer @SenSchumer I am forcing a vote tonight to adjourn the Senate until after the November election.

The GOP in the middle of a national election is using an illegitimate process to jam through a Supreme Court nominee to rip away health care from millions.

Democrats are fighting to stop it. 11:10 PM · Oct 19, 2020

Craig Caplan @CraigCaplan 48-42: Senate defeated Schumer's effort to adjourn the Senate until after the election to November 9th unless a COVID-19 relief deal is reached because of Democrats' objections to the upcoming Senate confirmation vote on Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett.

Still cute, but I’ll bet she was a cracker-jack as a young
woman around 16-18.

Looks like a tomboy that got great grades and could do
almost anything.

Can’t wait to see her confirmed. Youza!

Has Schumer explained how the process is illegitimate? Last I knew, Presidents were elected for four years at a time, and Senators for a full six. And IIRC, somebody or other said “elections have consequences”.

I find it repugnant that the ‘Rats expect a Republican President and a Republican Senate to give up the first and last years of their terms to allow the ‘Rats to advance their agenda. You don’t see the ‘Rats deferring to the Republicans, ever. They have a vapid entitlement mentality that just keeps tainting everything.

She’s not just the most amazing nominee for the SC I’ve ever seen, but (as we’ve all noticed) she is just one of the most remarkable people in general. I’ve never witnessed anyone in Washington who came across as so brilliant, yet completely down to Earth, relaxed, kind, and genuinely friendly as Amy Coney Barrett does. She’s a true star, and I have a feeling that her intelligence, combined with her engaging personality, will influence her fellow justices in ways we can’t yet imagine. If nothing else, I hope she has a positive effect on Roberts.

This is likely inappropriate, but I’ll say it. ACB will be the hottest SCOTUS justice ever. Granted, that’s a fairly low bar when your competition is RBG, Kagan, Sotomayor & O’Connor. Nonetheless, she’s a very attractive woman who has still got it going on at 48. And, yes, she was really something as a youth, as well. See this page for her yearbook pic at age 18 or 19:

Well, apparently 5 Dems never even bothered to show up to vote against it either. Republicans only needed 48 votes, so once they got 48 votes(Dems only have 47 seats), they called it a day.
