Republicans to push ahead with U.S. Supreme Court pick despite Democrats' boycott

U.S. Senate Republicans pledged to go ahead with a vote on Thursday (22 Oct) on President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee, Amy Coney Barrett, despite Judiciary Committee Democrats pledging to boycott a proceeding that they called “a sham.”...

All 12 Republicans on the Judiciary Committee have indicated they will support Barrett, a favorite of Christian conservatives, while all 10 Democrats are opposed. Graham is thus thought to have enough votes to prevail, but might have to circumvent some committee rules on doing business with no Democratic members present.

Assuming the Judiciary Committee sends the nomination to the full Senate with a favorable recommendation as expected, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell aims to hold a procedural vote on Barrett’s nomination on Sunday, which would limit debate so that a final vote to confirm her could occur on Monday.

Don’t give in to them. Treat like the spoiled children that they are and don’t give them their way.

McConnell should tell Schumer that if the Democrats boycott the Judiciary Committee vote this week (the committee needs at least two minority party members to conduct business), he’ll move to shut down the 30-hour debate window on Sunday/Monday and go right to a full Senate vote at 8:00 on Monday morning.

...and execute the extreme and deeply unpopular agenda that they’ve been unable to get through Congress,” the Democrats said.

Damn the Dims, too.

“Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton[2] (née Rodham; born October 26, 1947)”

Commemorating Hillary’s Birthday.

Her failure in the last Presidential election delivered this outcome on the Supreme Court - potentially saving our Constitutional form of Government from Leftist subversion.

They should have come up with the “sham” idea before they questioned her.

She appeared. She answered their questions. Now they want to stomp their feet and storm off like little children.

It seems clear what the “sham” is, here.

Their pay should be docked, since they won’t do their jobs.

And here Feinswine has received untold grief from the far left for some semi-favorable remark she made about Judge Amy. She wouldn’t DARE vote in favor at this point, not that she was likely to anyway.

Justice Amy. I like that.

Exactly. We are finally playing by their rules. Someone is still going to pull a rabbit out of a hat, they aren’t going to let this slip by, but I like the idea of McConnell telling Schumer that if they boycott, he prevents the 30 hour debate and the Senate votes first thing Monday morn! This could lead to violence, but it’s going to happen, so it might as well be now, but it won’t last long.
