God only knows that, two weeks out from the presidential election, the stakes are high.
On Sunday, a version of the Beach Boys the touring incarnation of the group led by cofounder Mike Love performed at a last-minute fundraiser for President Trump near Newport Beach in Orange County. Brian Wilson and Al Jardine, two other founding members of the beloved California band, were less than happy about the news.

“He even had a brief encounter with Charles Manson and his family. I think tat encounter was to score drugs, if I r
remember correctly.”
I believe the story was that he picked up (gave a ride to) a few of the Manson girls, who were hitchhiking, a couple of times. Then, one night after an all night recording session he came home to find Charley and the whole family in his driveway. (That is not who you want to find in your driveway at 3 am :) )
Actually...that is a Dennis Wilson story, not Brian. My bad. Crazy story nonetheless....
Brian Wilson hated Manson from the very beginning.
But it was the second encounter with these same girls that finally made Manson show up on Carl's doorstep. Carl was quite frightened by him at first but soon warmed up to him, and took him into his home and later introduced him to Terry Melcher at his house who lived where Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski would later take up residence. Terry Melcher rejected Manson as an artist. That is why Manson ordered the hit on that house, unaware that Melcher no longer lived there. Thus Carl indirectly became the reason Sharon Tate and others were murdered. Manson had told his family to go kill everyone at that address.
Went to see them at the Universal Amphitheater when it was
still an outside venue. Brian was up to his antics for
the whole show.
Yeah that was Dennis Wilson, who had the Manson connection. I guess you also know that Terry Melcher was Doris Day’s son. Crazy stuff...

I should have just looked on the internet first and then posted the above from the beginning. I was taking the lazy way out and trying to rely on apparently faulty memories. 8>)
Mike Love always has been the sane one.
We saw them in Thousand Oaks, CA, around 2005. Great concert.
Promises Promises-I’m still waiting on all the ones who were going to leave in 2016 as well as for Cher to move to Jupiter like she said she would.
No worries. Interesting stuff. Thanks!
Other than a couple songs on the stereo re-mix (Good Vibrations and God Only Knows), I've never gotten why Pet Sounds is considered one of the most influential albums in music history. One of the biggest hits, "Wouldn't It Be Nice", was a rehash of some surfing music and just bubble-gum pop.
Still, I have to give Brian Wilson credit for re-mixing and adding other instruments, along with his arrangements. All the background music is probably why Pet Sounds is in the top of pop musical accomplishments.
I literally grew up with the Beach Boys just one suburb over, and to this day love their harmonies.
No, that was Brian's younger brother Dennis (drummer).
Uhhn your not in the band anymore there Ringo!
Yes already acknowledged that I was mistaken. 8>)
His enabler psychologist was giving him many drugs to deal with his already known bi/polar paranoia mental problems. His girlfriend and family finally sued Landy for malpractice to relinquish his legal control that Brian initially signed onto. I believe Landy lost his license and is now dead.
Brian became better in later years due to basic therapy and a couple of now accepted/recognized drugs for his condition. He can't sing a lick without going off key, but his improved mental health allows him to perform sometimes.
Here is a true expose on Brian Wilson's life:

I always thought Mike Love was the better singer.
I'm pretty sure the Wilson brothers grew up in Hawthorne, Ca. I grew up in Gardena, CA. - one suburb over.
Pretty sure that is a myth. Brian wanted nothing to do with Manson. Dennis was the younger brother that hung out with Manson for a short time.
No, it was Dennis Wilson, the drummer.
I even met Dennis Wilson in my young surfing days in the line up for the sets at Redondo Beach. I asked him if he was Dennis, he said yes, complimented him and brothers on their music, shot the shit a little and he took off on the perfect left before me. Damn him - kidding. You want a true expose of their history?

No need to apologize, you did nothing wrong, but I sure made a mess of of my posts by trying to work solely on what I thought I remembered. I’ll have to give that story a look, thanks. 8>)
