The airline industry won’t recover unless we end this lockdown. Coronavirus has changed everything!
“$5.4 billion”
How much is that in mask dollars?
Cant imagine the cruise business is any better.
The Chinese virus is working better than Xi dreamed.
Flew an A320 flight with them just a few days ago. Only loading 4 seats per row thanks to Covid...77 total people on that flight.
Operating costs have to be 10k-12K per hour dont see how they arent losing money on every plane they fly.
Max config of a 320 is 180 passengers with leaving middle seat open that means max capacity of 120 per flight and with an operating cost of 12k an hour.. just the operating cost is $100 per hour of flight.
Just dont see how they are not hemorrhaging money with their current covid policy of not filling the plane.
Meanwhile flew 2 American jets down, both E175s every seat filled on American.
It’s not so much nobody wants to fly, it’s that the short notice and lucrative business folk aren’t flying. Many can accomplish their biz online and through remote meeting by video chat.
I flew SW from San Antonio to San Jose a month ago. It was the best ride I’ve experienced in decades. But they can’t continue to burn fuel carrying 45 people on a 737-800.
The unions are balking at pay cuts so furloughs will be the answer until all segments of the flying public shed this insanity.
Delta is Ready for a Government Bailout When You Are.
Cruise “futures” might be doing ok. Carnival already has cruises available in December. All my bookings have been 10-12 months in advance, so they might look better on paper.
She got Beau a round-trip ticket to Alaska this summer for $500! Yes, he needed to be Covid-FRee (tested within 72 hours) and had to wear a mask on the plane, but he said it was worth the hassle to see Denali in person and hunt for moose.

Too big to fail, give em 20 trillion to stay afloat.
It’s the Gay Airline. Delta was openly supporting and employing avowed homosexuals before it became “cool.” They displayed a giant LGBT rainbow on a building in Atlanta in celebration when the Obergefell decision came out. I felt physically sick at what was happening to our country, and they wanted to celebrate the decay. This is not to mention their service is crap. I hope Delta goes under.
I say re-regulate the airlines and bring back cute stewardesses! Bring back Pan Am!
Crash and burn.
Of course they wouldn’t think about dropping the bag surcharges and bringing back inflight meals to make flying more attractive. That’s too ‘80s.
As long as masks are mandated on flights, I’ll be seeing the world out the window of my Silverado.
The older I get, the less I wish to hurry.
How can you stay in business with a quarterly loss like that ?!
Flying was unpleasant enough without being stuck wearing a suffocating smelly face diaper for hours and hours.
I flew on American aa few weeks ago, four flights with every seat filled (4 across seating). Miserable. Have flown 8 flights on Delta since then. In steerage with the middle seats of 6 across rows every aisle and window seat was filled, much more comfortable though masks get old real quick. Seems a lot more people are traveling every week, a lot more people have had enough.
