California is unlikely to get money to offset budget cuts worth billions of dollars with new coronavirus aid talks stalled in Congress.
But those cuts would vanish if the federal government sent the state more money by Oct. 15, which is Thursday.
Californias public schools, colleges, universities and state workers salaries all stand to be hit.

Both kids finished HS in CA and are now in school in Utah-UofU and USU. After first year out of state tuition (which is not comparatively bad), now getting in-state tuition.. Best bargain in college education!
I know—but on the other hand, unlike 80% of students these days, my kids in CA college pay cash (my cash) to the colleges for tuition and don’t take out student loans.
Colleges are only allocated so much student loan/grant money, so the more CA students they enroll who pay cash instead, the better. You’d think. But yes foreign and out of state students are better still.
It would be funny to reverse Pelosi’s Big Blue Bailout and send extra cash to states that will go for Trump.
As soon as the government took silver and gold out of our normal coinage, “money” became worthless. Curious how 1964 was the last year silver was used, as it seems the country went to hell right afterwards.
They can get all the $$$ they need from their rich commie friends!
All they have to do is write a check to pay for it ... they do have piles of checks .... you know, kinda like where does electric come from .... wall sockets.
“If Biden wins, the money fire-hose to Blue state governments, their employee pension funds and their vast array of government-supported social workers and street agitators is going to be opened full-blast
Theyll call it stimulus just like Obama did in 2009”
10 years ago I read the list of stimulus money recipients in my county. EVERY ONE OF THEM were obscure non-profits located at address in the predominantly minority (democrat) side of town. We are talking $60,000 here and $100,000 there that was pocketed by the democrat machine and their operatives.
I’m live in Illinois. When a previous stimulus was being crafted our politicians were pitching a $9.6B bailout to “stabilize” our state budget, the major problem being pensions. If DEMS run the table in the election Illinois will be at the front of the trough, getting a pension bailout in the name of covid.
Well good luck with that. Very tough in CA and we have not even talked about the grades/test scores needed to get into a state school. Outrageous!
Yes, even the crappiest public universities in Southern CA have acceptance rates of like 30%-40%; it’s crazy. Too many CA teens, not enough colleges. Other states have much better options and higher acceptance rates.
Renegade California gives a new meaning to 13th Amendment-prohibited involuntary servitude.
From related threads
Unconstitutional federal funding-addicted California and New York need to team up and support PDJT in leading the states to put a stop to unconstitutional federal taxes, taxes that the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification Congress cannot justify under its constitutional, Article I, Section 8-limited powers.
"10th Amendment: The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
"Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States." Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
[...] the care of the property, the liberty, and the life of the citizen, under the solemn sanction of an oath imposed by your Federal Constitution, is in the States, and not in the Federal Government [emphases added]. Rep. John Bingham, Congressional Globe, 1866. (See about middle of 3rd column.)
Once unconstitutional federal taxes are stopped then each state will ultimately find a tsunami of new revenues imo. The states can use their new revenues to individually establish their own healthcare and retirement programs for example.
Justice Brandeis had put it this way about the "laboratories of democracy," the unique powers of the sovereign states to serve the people, depending on what social spending services the legal majority citizen voters of a given state want.
"It is one of the happy incidents of the federal system that a single courageous State may, if its citizens choose [emphasis added], serve as a laboratory; and try novel social and economic experiments without risk to the rest of the country. Justice Brandeis, Laboratories of democracy.
Note that constitutional limits on states as laboratories of democracy is that states cannot establish privileged / protected classes or abridge constitutionally enumerated rights, and must maintain a constitutionally guaranteed republican form of government, etc.
And to make such changes permanent, patriots need to support PDJT in leading the states to repeal the 16th and ill-conceived 17th Amendments.
Send "Orange Man Bad" federal and state government desperate Democrats home in November!
Supporting PDJT with a new patriot Congress and state government leaders that will promise to fully support his already excellent work for MAGA and stopping SARS-CoV-2 will effectively give fast-working Trump a "third term" in office imo.
I dont see any problem with voting Republican ticket for 2020 elections.
Insights welcome.

And Newson put together a team to study what it would take to make slavery reparations. We are living in the twilight zone in California.
They should help ICE deport all illegals and reduce the population by 25%.
So where's the problem with that? Sounds like a good thing.
Half right. 1970 was the last year for silver half dollars (40 percent silver), officially. There were some coinage in silver for the next few years as old silver blanks were used up. 1964 was the last official year for 90 percent silver coins.
Anyway, money became worthless as compared to when backed by silver.
SCREW California....
The power brokers placed their bets and .... whammmo...zip.
If Trump can regain the house on Nov 3 or when ever—he’s going to suddenly have an enormous amount of power.
He’ll be able to say to broke blue states and cities that they can have money on condition that they, 1.)abrogate sancturay city laws 2.) work with ICE 3.) fully fund their police. for places like SF and LA he can demand they change their laws that allowed their streets to be taken over by tent cities.
As with the Eisenhower Dollars, you usually had to go to a bank (or coin shop) to obtain them (as I did as a youngster in the early 1980s). Nobody in the stores wanted either of them for "money", as they were a pain. Even the ill-fated Susan B. Anthony Dollars, closer to the quarter-size and mistaken for them, nobody wanted either.
