Saudi Prince Bandar bin Sultan, one of the most widely recognized and respected Saudi officials in the world, gave a three-part interview to the government-controlled Al Arabiya news network and proceeded to tear down 70 years of myths about the leadership of the Palestinian national movement. Bandar spent 22 years as a Saudi ambassador to the U.S. and is known to speak for the government.
It was an extraordinary series of interviews a brutal assessment of the numerous self-inflicted wounds by Palestinian leaders going all the way back to the 1930s. It was broadcast in Arabic with English subtitles on a news network that reaches every country in the region. And while Bandar is no longer in the government, a palace spokesman said he was speaking for Crown Prince Mohammed ben Salman.
Bandar began by talking about the Mufti of Jerusalem, the very first Palestinian national leader, who made a deal with the Nazis back in the 1930s and got nothing to show for it.
From Bloomberg:
Bandar goes on to mention a list of similar bad choices and decisions: The Arab rejection of the 1948 United Nations partition plan that would have given the Palestinians a state. The Arab Leagues rejection of UN Resolution 242 after the 1967 War that called for an Israeli withdrawal from occupied territories; and the Palestinian Liberation Organization rejection of the Clinton Plan in 2000 that would have given the Palestinians a state in most of the West Bank and Gaza.
The most interesting rejection came in 1979, at Camp David. Israel offered Palestinians autonomy in the occupied territories. Yasir Arafat, turned it down flat. Sixteen years later, Arafat signed the Oslo Accord with Israel.

Saudi/Israel peace deal. Prepare yourself for the mother of all Meh
Ping.
Well, unless they want US policy to shift back to being pro-Iranian, I think the next week or so would be a good time
Without Isreali piloted F-35s, Israeli stealthy drones and on the ground Mossad operatives, Iran would be hard pressing and destabilizing the Saudi regime. The Saudi regime knows that Israel is the de facto guarantor of their existence.
As a politician once said in the early 1980s, “it’s time for Jews and Arabs to come together and resolve their differences in a true Christian spirit.”
The Saudis have actually been allies with Israel for a while. They just don’t want to make that knowledge public. Seemingly the people they are worried about keeping it from or their own public.
Just b4 the election.
Saudi has already opened their airspace to Israel.
Yep.
The obstacle is the King, he is definitely NOT on board with recognizing Israel. There are many other powerful Saudi’s, wahhabists and salafists that feel the same way.
..........
Only the Kings death will allow movement towards peace. That will be very dicey as the powerful Saudi’s are rich already and see no gain by economic cooperation with Israel.
“The Saudis have actually been allies with Israel for a while. They just dont want to make that knowledge public. Seemingly the people they are worried about keeping it from or their own public.”
Agreed. Over the years, I’ve heard several anecdotal snippets where the Saudis and Israelis are on pretty good but low key terms.
He showed us around a bit pointing out that even the poorer household had hired domestic help.
Was there a big difference in pay, we asked? Oh, yes, he nodded. Maybe even three or four times as much.
And what did they get for so much more, we asked. The most expensive help, he said, came from the Philippines, India or Thailand. Moderately priced from Bangladesh or Pakistan. The cheapest were Palestinians.
Why was that, we asked. "Lower probability of being robbed or worse," he sardonically replied.
The Saudis are rich alright - but Iranian leadership hates them...and war with Iran would take a lot of that 'rich' away.
Most Saudi’s absolutely revere their soil/sand, over flights by Israel are not threatening.
............
Israeli’s on the ground could cause civil war in Saudi Arabia, whether they be diplomats or business reps.
...........
When our armor and vehicles were shipped out of Saudi Arabia after the Gulf Wars, our soldiers, on the docks where the loading was going on, had to wash all the Saudi sand off our vehicles......under the watchful eye of the Saudi’s who then went inside of our vehicles looking for every grain of sand they could find.
..........
That’s the Saudi Arabia we are talking about.
“Prince Bandar ............the Saudis”
...........
It is not Saudi Arabia we are talking about......it is the KSA.......KINGDOM of Saudi Arabia.
.............
If the King doesn’t want it, it doesn’t happen. The King is the Protector of Mecca. Until a new king is announced at some future Friday prayers in Mecca, ain’t gonna happen.
For the first time in my 20 years on FR I am saying F**k you to someone . . . as a Jew I’m thrilled with this
Prince Bandar helped to send money to the guys who flew went on to fly the planes into the twin towers. He is very high up in the Saudi pecking order. What he said recently must have been exactly what he was told to say.
