This story took place over the past week or so but its just bubbling to the surface outside of the local news beat. In Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Mayor Danene Sorace (D) held an extremely short press conference on October 2nd to announce the retirement of their Chief of Police, Jarrad Berkihiser. After briefly thanking him for his service, the Mayor took no questions from the press and departed. The Police Chief did not attend the event and issued no comment.
Lancasters police chief was forced to retire because his wife posted positive comments about President Trump on Facebook, according to the past president of the local Fraternal Order of Police.
Mayor Danene Sorace announced Jarrad Berkihisers retirement on Friday, Oct. 2, during a three-and-a-half-minute news conference at which she did not answer questions and which Berkihiser did not attend.
It was retire or be fired, John Fiorill, the FOPs immediate past president said Friday.
Fiorill said his account of Berkihisers retirement is based on a call Berkihiser made to the FOP lodge seeking labor advice after Sorace demanded his resignation. Since Berkihiser had not reached an agreement with the city at the time of that call, Fiorill said he believes he can share the information with the media.
In followup series of exchanges with the press, the Mayor continued to insist that she couldnt make any further comment on the subject, citing privacy and an agreement between her and the soon-to-be ex-Chief. Jarrad Berkihiser isnt issuing any public statements either

There will be no lawsuit. The guy retired and will he collecting a full pension, so any financial loss to him would be inconsequential.
Man the taxpayers of that town are going to have to bend over and get ready to receive one....
Democrat scum...again.
Intentionally getting someone fired for being pro-Trump is a hate crime, not much different than burning down someone’s house for voting “wrong.” - Scott Adams
And in this case, punishing the HUSBAND for the wife’s actions. That’s unfair.
What did she say anyway? I have not heard one thing about that.
The Chief was fired because his wife tested positive for the common sense virus.
“Its Amish country.”
Not Lancaster city. More Black & Hispanic than anything. All the usual urban problems.
I do not believe it is 'wrongful termination' if you resign your position. I think you pretty much have to make them fire you. I'm sure this is different in every jurisdiction though.
Let me review this:
1. The Police Chief’s wife expressed her own opinion.
2. Feminist doctrine says that women should be free to express their own opinion regardless of what their husbands (aka masters) may believe.
3. The female mayor is “firing” the police chief because he can’t/won’t control what his wife believes and posts online.
I realize that this Democrat mayor may reject feminist doctrine, but I feel safe in opining that she doesn’t.
Lancaster County is Amish country.
Lancaster city is full of liberals and welfare parasites like most other cities.
Lancaster is the city that had major riots recently after an officer shot a psycho “minority” that was chasing him with a large knife trying to kill him.
Yet another leftist mayoress.
Only a small number of Amish cast ballots in presidential elections, likely less than 10%.

Lancaster County, outside of the city of Lancaster, is wall to wall Republican and solid Trump country.
I lived in the Lititz area for 7 years. After that I moved across the Susquehanna to live near Dillsburg (York County) for another 18. There are other areas of Lancaster County besides Lancaster City that have significant Democrat leanings. Ephrata and most of the bedroom communities in the northeast section of the county for one. A lot of those homeowers are commuting back & forth to the Philly environs to work. Same goes for some of the communities south of Rt. 30 between Strasburg & Willow Street. Majority Republican, but not dominant.
He should sue.
He was forced to retire.
But someone else can use this to slime the mayor when she is up for re-election.
