Lake Erie and the 'Science of Climate Change' President Trump was right: “I don’t think the science knows.”

In 2007, Goodman was still using “global warming” as a term of art. Soon enough, with almost no public explanation as to why, “global warming” would yield to “climate change.” In 2013, the climate change-friendly Economist hinted at the reason for the rebranding. “Over the past 15 years air temperatures at the Earth’s surface have been flat while greenhouse-gas emissions have continued to soar.” This was a secret the media preferred to keep under wraps. Indeed, the Economist aptly titled the article, “A Sensitive Matter.”

Here on Lake Erie, scientists and their media champions have much to be sensitive about. Year after year, they have proven unreliable on any number of climate-related variables and especially the one that concerns property owners most—the lake level.

In 2002, National Geographic published a much cited article with the none too subtle title, “Down the Drain: The Incredible Shrinking Great Lakes.” That article seems to have vanished into the ether. I learned about it only from reading a 2012 National Geographic article by Lisa Borre that identified the culprit for this shrinkage as climate change, “Warming Lakes: Climate Change and Variability Drive Low Water Levels on the Great Lakes.”

The chart accompanying the Economist graph of temperature shows (if the data can be believed) that there has been a variation of about 0.75 degrees in the average earth temperature since 1950. Woohoo! We are all going to die! (That is if we don’t all die from Covid-19 first. /s)

Not to mention the shifting plates release heat, from the earth’s molten lava core, which raises ocean temps!

It was a brilliant bit of rebranding.

Real science tells us the climate has been changing since the beginning of time.
The hot air theory of greenhouse gasses has already been debunked, they just won’t admit it yet.

while greenhouse-gas emissions have continued to soar.

That's a common lie, they haven't soared at all. FWIW, 95% of the CO2 on this planet comes from nature......

1980 (40 years ago) CO2 level was allegedly 338.75 PPM.

Current alleged CO2 level is 417 PPM.........

In 2014, the lake levels started rising and have continued to rise. In 2017, they reached crisis level on Lake Ontario.

An inconvenient truth.

~~~
Was that measurement taken before or after Mt.Saint Helens erupted?
Quote from the low water article: “Low lake levels are not a new normal,” he said. “We expect to see lake levels fluctuate as we have in the past.”
Global warming is lowering sea-levels. Now we know where it is making all that water go....into the Great Lakes!!!
From POPULAR SCIENCE, 1980! Still reeling from THE COMING ICE AGE scare.
POPULAR SCIENCE, Feb 1980..
PS/What’s News ....
page 73
Changing the weather intentionally or otherwise weather modification..(Earth cooling vs Greenhouse effect)
“Do you suppose we can learn enough, soon enough, to pull off a balancing act with the CO2 blanket saving us from another ice age?”
Everyone knows that a rise of CO2 in the atmosphere follows warming temperatures. Maybe except the quack “scientists” referred to by the greenies. Sun warms the Earth, a rise of CO2 lags behind. The Earth cools, and a decrease of CO2 follows. Been happening for millions of years. Now that’s true climate change. There is no such thing as the greenies “global warming” threat supposedly caused by mankind. It’s nature at work, and it happens in cycles despite mankind.
I don't know, you tell me..........Does it really matter? Current level is allegedly 417 PPM......So tell me how significant is that?
417/1,000,000 = .000417.........
If there were a Pulitzer for sophistry, it would have to go the headline writer for the 2019 Scientific American article titled, “Climate Change Sends Great Lakes Water Levels Seesawing.” Not wanting to be pinned down, the authors argued that “rapid transitions between extreme high and low water levels in the Great Lakes represent the ‘new normal’.”
This stuff isn't 'science' it's crystal ball reading... Journalists fall for it because alarm-ism draws readers and clicks - and most journalists can't do math...
Editors should be as wary of 'future stories' as they used to be about stories with one source...
