One of the main reasons Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election is voters who disapproved of both Trump and his rival, Hillary Clinton, broke for Trump by about 18 percentage points.
"In the abstract, it’s something of a statistical quirk," the Washington Post's Philip Bump recently explained. "In practice, though, it might have given Trump the White House."
In contrast, Trump's party lost control of the House of Representatives in the 2018 midterm elections due mainly to large numbers of voters who cast ballots for Trump just two years earlier switched sides and voted for Democrats — particularly college-educated white women.
Now, in a troubling sign for Trump's 2020 chances, all three groups — voters who disapprove of both candidates; voters who cast ballots for different parties in 2016 and 2018; and college-educated white women — are moving in Joe Biden's direction.
By partnering with YouGov to track the views of 13 key demographic groups (suburban voters, Latino voters, white seniors) across nine important metrics (vote intention, Trump approval, direction of the country), Yahoo News has identified a significant shift away from Trump over the last week — a period in which the president delivered a poorly received debate performance and was hospitalized with COVID-19.

Given Yahoo's rather blatant anti-Trump bias and given that the poll spoke only with registered voters, there are reasons to hold it in little regard.
The gist of the poll is that Trump is losing among these three key demographic groups solely because of he was a meanie during the debate and also because of his COVID diagnosis.

I feel like last go around (2016) he did better in the latter two debates also. But so much more seemed riding on the ‘first’ one this time around.
However, if he recovers quickly enough and Biden camp agrees and they still do go through with the latter two debates...he will have chance to redeem himself. (Debate wise) And so far of all the moderators: Megyn Kelly and Chris Wallace have been the worst! So I don’t even think the latter moderators will be as bad regardless of how liberal.
Honestly I don’t know that it really does ride on the debates. I do hope Pence does well!

Yahoo has become VERY blatant anti-Trump. They killed their comments on articles because (like me) many conservatives called them out on their extremely slanted or flat out false articles.
IMHO the fact that Biden is spending precious ad money in CA and PA tells you how “confident” they are with these polls and articles. No show Joe/Ho’s only hope is massive, massive voter fraud....which the Democrats are already working hard to produce.

must also add- I watched the coverage of the rallies outside Walter Reed on Right Side Broadcasting the past few days. I could NOT get over the number of first generation immigrants who were out there rallying for our President; Indians, Colombians, Iranians...some of these interviews were incredible. One black woman wore a shirt which read, “BLACK LIVES MAGA!”
