~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Joint Base Anacostia Bolling, Washington, D.C. Joint Base AnacostiaBolling is a 905-acre military installation, located in Southwest, Washington, D.C. established on 1 October 2010 in accordance with congressional legislation implementing the recommendations of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure Commission. The legislation ordered the consolidation of Naval Support Facility Anacostia (NSF) and Bolling Air Force Base (BAFB), which were adjoining, but separate military installations, into a single joint base, one of twelve formed in the country as a result of the law. The base hosts the Defense Intelligence Agency Headquarters amongst its other responsibilities. The only aeronautical facility at the base is a 100-by-100-foot helipad. Joint Base AnacostiaBolling (JBAB) is responsible for providing installation support to 17,000 military, civilian employees and their families, 48 mission and tenant units, including ceremonial units (United States Air Force Honor Guard, USAF Band, USAF Chaplains, the Navy Ceremonial Guard), various Army, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Joint Service commands and other DOD and federal agencies.
Bolling Air Force Base units also provide ceremonial support to the White House, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the Secretary of the Air Force, and the Air Force Chief of Staff, mainly through 11th Wing, the United States Air Force Honor Guard and The United States Air Force Band. By 2020, more than half of the activity at AnacostiaBolling fell under the US Air Force. Consequently, it was decided that installation management and support at the base would transfer from the US Navy to the Air Force. To facilitate the change, on 11 June 2020 the 11th Wing inactivated as the host wing at Joint Base Andrews and reactivated as the 316th Wing. After fifteen years of being based at Andrews, the 11th Wing returned to Anacostia-Bolling on 12 June 2020 and activated as the host wing at the base. A memorandum of agreement was signed between the Navy and the Air Force on 24 June 2020 which formalised the transition, however the Air Force did not officially take control until 1 October 2020. Learn More About Joint Base Anacostia Bolling HERE!! FR CANTEEN MISSION STATEMENT~Showing support and boosting the morale of our military and our allies military and the family members of the above. Honoring those who have served before.

Maybe lightning will strike, Army Bro - but I'm not holding out much hope.

Aaaaaaah, so you’re still skating on the fence, huh? LOL! She’ll have you working on it before long.
We’re enjoying nice fall temps, too, and they’re most welcome.
I’m worried about our newest addition to the “herd”, Jobu. Haven’t seen him since late yesterday afternoon. Since he
s spent all his time on the back porch or carport since he arrived, it’s worrisome.
All the other kittehs are doing fine at least.

We are but he’s coming Friday instead, his choice.
Gives me more time to fine tune it. All’s good

She might. I was always smaller than everyone else in my class. And skinny as a rail. Her personality is all her mom, though. LOL!
Last year Piper was still kind of stocky in that pre-teen way, but she is slim and long-legged now and not near through growing.

You were always one of the smaller in your class and I was always the tallest. It was easy to pick me out in the class pix each year because they stuck in the center of the back row. LOL
Piper does look a lot different this year, having grown so much. I’ll bet you were shocked when you saw her in person.

I WAS shocked. And she has the sweetest laughing eyes. Taz once said she had an old soul. She is an excellent and patient big sister and does her share of chores so she can save money for a ~~~shudder~~~ car down the line.
Callie has a short attention span and is prone to blow her allowance at will. LOL!

EEK! Already thinking about a car? She started young, didn’t she? I didn’t even think about driving until I was almost old enough for a license, but then I had a horse. I was quite happy riding him where I wanted to go.
Maybe Callie will slow down on her spending as she gets older - - and maybe not. She’s still young and doesn’t think much beyond tomorrow.
They’re both adorable young ladies.

A very pleasant good Monday morning and ((HUGS)) to everyone at the Canteen and to all our military at home and abroad. Thanks for your service to our country and thanks Lauren for this morning's thread.
How's everyone doing this morning?

She’s not thinking short term. She’s saving for WHEN she’s old enough to have a driver’s license. She and Callie have been raised on Dave Ramsey’s method of saving. I gave my son that book while he was in the AF. I had gone to see Ramsey in person, and thought it might help him since he had college bills to pay.
I thought he’d look at it, roll his eyes at his mom’s choice, put it on the bookshelf and that would be the end of the story, but little did I know. He has been debt free for years! He struggled to do it, but he with his wife’s help have succeeded and they are teaching the girls the same lessons. I’m very proud of them.
And thanks. The girls are very special to us. Just wish they didn’t live so far away, darn it.

Did you take Gizmo to Comanche Lake again or head off somewhere else for a change of scenery?

I wasn’t saying Piper thinks short term. Callie is who I was referring to. Piper’s obviously thinking ahead. I didn’t even think about cars or driving when I was her age.
Dave Ramsey’s show was on the Nashville talk radio station for a long time and I tried hard to get Hubby to pay attention to what he said, but no luck there. “Beans and rice and rice and beans” isn’t easy but it does pay off in the long run. Bravo to your son for pulling it off.
It’s a shame they moved so far away and you can’t see them as often as you used to. :-(

Glad your weather has been nice. Ours has too, just a bit warmer than I like for mid-fall.
Oh, well, at least we're not having blizzards. LOL!
Gizmo is looking his usual handsome self. This one is my fav!
Gotta love that big ol' grin. :)

I was stationed at Bolling USAF Honor Guard for 3.5 years
It’s South East, D.C. not South West, as stated.

It's a beautiful spring...er...fall day out there.
With the temps we're having [90s],
it might as well be summer redux!
Is ANYone having actual fall weather?
I'm just curious.
Anyhoooo....I'll quit whining to say
Have a Terrific Tuesday!
