RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) When many people envision Thanksgiving they think of large family dinners followed by Black Friday shopping sprees.
However, with the coronavirus pandemic still at large, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is recommending people alter their celebrations this year with safety in mind. This includes smaller gatherings and not traveling for the holiday.
Thanksgiving is a time when many families travel long distances to celebrate together, the CDC said on its website. Travel increases the chance of getting and spreading the virus that causes COVID-19. Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others. If you must travel, be informed of the risks involved.
The CDC has ranked actives into three categories lower risk, moderate risk, and higher risk.
Heres how the CDC ranks each Thanksgiving tradition:
Lower risk activities
- Having a small dinner with only people who live in your household
- Preparing traditional family recipes for family and neighbors, especially those at higher risk of severe illness from COVID-19, and delivering them in a way that doesnt involve contact with others
- Having a virtual dinner and sharing recipes with friends and family
- Shopping online rather than in person on the day after Thanksgiving or the next Monday
- Watching sports events, parades, and movies from home
Moderate risk activities
- Having a small outdoor dinner with family and friends who live in your community
- Visiting pumpkin patches or orchards where people use hand sanitizer before touching pumpkins or picking apples, wearing masks is encouraged or enforced, and people are able to maintain social distancing
- Attending small outdoor sports events with safety precautions in place
Higher risk activities
- Going shopping in crowded stores just before, on, or after Thanksgiving
- Participating or being a spectator at a crowded race
- Attending crowded parades...

Screw them.
The left has already robbed us, or tried to rob us of enough holidays this year..
They are going after everything that gives us cultural identity and really, aggressively trying to give us the new normal that has broken ties with our past and our society. They are trying to break the traditions that glue us together as a people.
If they can isolate us and make this last long enough that we begin to forget and a generation is raised without these memories, their job at taking over and providing the stability that tradition and custom gives us is more than half over.
People want stability in their lives and its easier to conquer them when they dont have it.
So, nothing but state approved/fabricated holidays (think Juneteenth) for you, comrade. You will do what we say and think what we tell you to think or it off to re-education camps, er ah sensitivity training for you buddy.

Post-election Thanksgiving visits should be entertaining. Honestly, if the DEMs steal the election, I’ll probably not want to be around anyone afterward.

I’m retired and have very few friends too...by choice. I’ll be spending Thanksgiving and Christmas with my oldest son. My youngest son lives in Indiana, and never gets back to New York State, so I usually visit him a couple of times a year. And I have to cook when I visit him.

How about a riot while trampling down the front doors ( and a few hundred other rabid shoppers) of a Walmart on Black Friday? Does that count? If its mostly peaceful?

I have a feeling that gatherings with out-of-town relatives and Black Friday shopping will be the least of our concerns this Thanksgiving.
