The new measure requires certain merchants to provide price lists for standard services upon request and notifies them that gender-based price discrimination is prohibited under state law. For example, if the price to dry-clean a woman's suit jacket is $12 but only $8 for a man's, it would violate the law, the governor's office said.

Maybe it takes more work to clean a woman’s suit jacket. Oh, well. Just charge everyone $12 and be done with it.
Onward the Revolution!
Cuomo is also taking credit for the new Abbott rapid testing machines that are popping up statewide.
IIRC, those were purchased and distributed to states by Fedzilla, and the feds don’t require the states to pay for them.
But Cuomo, and his creatures in the local and state enemedia, are giving Cuomo all the credit for providing them.
Dry cleaners are already suffering as people dress down to work from home or enjoy more relaxed attire at work. So this will help put more dry cleaners out of business, another feather in Cumo's cap.
This is what Liberals are best at.
Fixing problems that don’t really exist.
There is more variety in woman’s jacket materials and they complain and have claims more often. Why shouldn’t they pay more?
I worked for a woman exec decades ago. She complained that the dry cleaner charged x amount to launder/press her husband’s shirts, but more to launder/press hers. so she went to straighten him out about discrimination.
He explained that mens shirts fit on the presser - womens shirts, being usually smaller, had to be done by hand.

Chemung County officials address recent spike, Elmira College cluster
If I owned a restaurant that's somehow still in business, this would scare the crap outta me.
BTW, also note the bit about Cuomo providing the Abbott testing machines.
Mens shirts also tend not to have bust darts.
Or they didn’t used to.
Sigh.
gender-based price discrimination
Of course they aren’t. They’re just pandering to imbeciles.
>>But car insurance will still cost men more<<
This will just be a tax on men. But yes, anything that is gender based such as insurance MUST be brought into “alignment.”
Goose, gander, etc.
So a man’s haircut price will ride to $75?
> if the price to dry-clean a womans suit jacket is $12 but only $8 for a mans, it would violate the law <
What if a man brings in a woman’s suit? What if a man brings in a woman’s suit and he’s wearing a woman’s suit?
No wonder so many have gotten caught flat-footed. More on this cluster at the link below...

So, the price for everyone now will be the highest common denominator.
Does this guy have anything to do?
guess it doesn’t matter that in many cases women’s clothing is more difficult and time consuming to clean or press than a man’s. You ever try to iron your wife’s blouse? My shirt is cotton or a cotton poly blend of some sort. It has no pleats, ruffles, dags, or other decorative assemblies on it. Its not made out of silk, satin, or other melt-able cloths. It takes me less than 5 minutes to iron my shirt. My wife’s blouse, on the other hand, can take me 10-15 because it has these other decorative and flattering things on it.
Point is, its effin retarded to look at things in the way these effin retards are looking at them. Its NOT apples to apples and never will be.
