Dr. Anthony S. Fauci, the leading U.S. official on infectious diseases, hit back at President Trump on Wednesday for what he called the misrepresentation of his stance on using masks to curb the coronavirus.

In the presidential debate on Tuesday, Mr. Trump claimed that Dr. Fauci initially said “masks are not good — then he changed his mind.” And when former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. said wearing masks could save tens of thousands of lives, Mr. Trump contended that “Dr. Fauci said the opposite.”

How about if you “allow” the individual to chose for themselves.

If you are truly in the high risk demographic, then take all of the precautions such as staying in your home and wearing a mask and allow the rest of healthy society, the remaining 95%, to go about their lives normally. People have to work and feed their families, people with actual diseases must have their regular checkups.

Also, as a high risk individual, if you think that masks are going to save you, you are a fool. They won't and it is a false hope. The whole wearing a mask gig is a joke and a large percentage of the people don't wear them correctly or only wear them intermittently. It is stupid and is mostly for virtual signaling — see me, I care about people.

Well I care about people too and I am concerned about the father of a family with mouths to feed who lost his job and can't work because the governors and mayors shut down the city and throttled back the economy WITH NO END IN SIGHT.

The big conversation on masks was that the particles were so small, the masks did nothing.

AND...the intention was so you didn't sneeze or cough directly on someone.

AND the mask doesn't protect you one little bit.

That is the job he is in, but that does not make him the leading expert on infectious diseases. He is not. He is a partisan bureaucrat first and foremost. There are many others who are more up to date on the leading research which Fauci appears to not know anything about.

Well I am at odds with my librarian over masks...sheesh. Around here the stores say a mask is required but they cant enforce it.

Well, I suppose as a private business they could ask people to leave, and trespass them if they dont. But what business owner in his right mind does that?

But how it legally works within a govt facility like a local library I am not sure. The mandate is not law but is the governors edict and seems to have some force of law. Grey area as since its not law it shouldnt be indefinite, though its been going on for seven months now with no end in sight.

Anyhow, the govt employees seem to be under direction to press people to where masks, to the point of great annoyance or even threat.

The damage this empowerment of 'public servants' has done to society is incalculable. My librarian demands I wear I mask to pick up a book I put onloan online. In and out in less than a minute. She doesnt say 'hi' or 'can I help you'. She says in a demanding tone "can you put on your mask, over your nose and mouth?". Now I hate my librarian...grrrr

And then there's fauci, the little prick that stood shoulder to armpit with the President and others....for MONTHS at these news conferences....and NEVER wore a mask....nor did scarf lady and others.
