Tuesday night's presidential debate was, by most accounts, a train wreck.
Aside from where viewers stand politically, the debate was marred by the two candidates endlessly interrupting each other. Then the moderator lost control, and chaos reigned.
The Commission for Presidential Debates (CPD) on Tuesday announced that the next debates will feature a new format, saying details would be released soon.
"Last night's debate made clear that additional structure should be added to the format of the remaining debates to ensure a more orderly discussion of the issues," the CPD said in a statement. "The CPD will be carefully considering the changes that it will adopt and will announce those measures shortly."

They also need to do something about the “impartial moderators” always interrupting only Pres. Trump when he’s trying to answer, while Biden gets to finish his answers in full. It’s a sneaky trick those bastards love to use too often.
If the Debate Commission can’t guarantee that won’t happen ever again, Team Trump should just walk away.

If the left have their way the only debates will be between the communists running for the Democrat nomination, all fighting to claim the hardest-left agenda so as not to be assassinated on their way back to the hotel by angry revolutionaries. There won’t be presidential election debates because they are unnecessary in a one-party state.
I utterly disagree. When the first words out of Biden’s mouth is a lie about Trump, under the rules of every deliberative body in the world, Trump has an immediate right to counter and defend himself and under most, the scurrilous jerk who puts about slander is sanctioned and denied a further forum.
Then for the so-called moderator to attempt to defend the lie, shut up the protestation about the lie and perpetrate his own lies, interrupting Trump all the time and Biden never is also against any defensible view of how “reasoned” debate is conducted and moderated.
How about this:
No “moderator”
Only one mike on at a time
Each guy has a button that transfers the active mike to the other guy.
Clock records cumulative time each mike is active.
When a guy’s time reaches half the total, his mike is off for good.
But in addition, muzzling the candidates and allowing them to say only what and when the moderator considers acceptable denies the public an opportunity to see what the real candidate looks like.
I have found the quet very well mannered who never speak without deliberation to be the most difficult to deal with simply because you have no idea what they truly believe.
Outbursts may be annoying but they almost always send signals.
The problem with the debates is not the rules....the problem is with moderators who do not measure up.
If there were a button to press that turns off the mikes, it surely would have been appropriate to turn off Chris Wallace's mike.
I for one am very proud of OUR PRESIDENT not sitting back and letting Joe and Chris run the show. Trump is the President of the USA and there should be respect for the office. What Joe and Chris did only shows how much respect they have for the Presidency itself. Also I think what everyone is missing, Our President was going around Chris and Joe and talking to his voters and potential voters to get the word out which he did. MAGA2020
So the CPD rigged the rules to help Biden and now they are panicked so they need to re-rig the rules to make it appear that they are less biased than they are while getting away with more bias.

If they do this, then Trump should not debate. He is the duly elected representative of the people, and he should not be silenced. Share this post and BOYCOTT THE DEBATES! Make the networks lose big money if they do this! BOYCOTT THE DEBATES!!
You underestimate Trump’s ability to adapt. Biden is the one who can’t adapt.
How ‘bout something like a chess timer?
The timers is reset. The Moderator asks a question to a candidate (then shuts up!). The candidate addressed hits his timer button and can talk until time runs out or he hits the button again.
At that point the second candidate can hit his button and respond until he is done or his timer runs out.
IF the first candidate still has time remaining, he can respond.
And back and forth it goes until both candidates are out of time. Then clocks are reset and the next question is asked.
Microphones only work if the candidates timer is running.
Maybe start with 5 minutes per candidate per question? That way they can get up to 6 questions in an hour.
And the moderator’s microphone should shut off while a candidates mike is active!

if Trump did things the way everyone in the deep state tells him to do things, the Palestenians would still be the AHs choking off diplomatic initiatives in the middle east and we would still be in shooting wars in every out of the way 3rd world shithole that doesn't matter. Instead, he has made the Palestinians irrelevant and shut them out in the cold.
That's how a real negotiator gets a deal that everyone can live with.

There absolutely should be no more debates. Especially if the organizers do what is being discussed. It’s a waste , in most cases, anyway. People who are relying on debates to determine who to vote for are delusional. The vast majority of voters already have determined who they are voting for and debates are just a side show event. Friggin waste of time, in my humble opinion.
Why bother with ratings. There aren't commercial breaks during the debates, are there? What sponsors are there that have bought ads?
No.
Way.
Dems can’t win, so they always try to change the rules.
