Agricultural officials confirm 3 new sightings of Asian giant hornets in Blaine

BLAINE, Wash. - Officials confirmed three new sightings of Asian giant hornets in Whatcom County, increasing to 12 the number that have been reported there.
The Bellingham Herald reports the total represents the first sightings of the hornets in Washington state and the U.S. since they were first spotted in Whatcom in 2019.
All three recent sightings were found near Burk Road, southeast of Blaine, in late September, according to the Washington State Department of Agriculture.
Traps will be set up in the area. The goal is to catch live Asian giant hornets in those traps, tag them and track them back to their colony to destroy them so the invasive pests dont become established in Washington state.
Usually about the size of an adult thumb, the Asian giant hornet, or Vespa mandarinia, is the worlds largest hornet species. They are identifiable by their large yellow/orange heads.
I have enjoyed many of Heinlein’s novels, especially the Lazarus Long series of books:
Methuselah’s Children, 1958 (originally a serialized novella in 1941)
I Will Fear No Evil, 1970
Time Enough for Love, 1973
The Cat Who Walks Through Walls, 1985
Some are silly fantasy, like
The Number of the Beast, 1980
and
Job: A Comedy of Justice, 1984, but still good reading.

I’ll check them out, thanks for the heads up.
It’s AOC!
Save Number of the Beast for last.
In it he brings together all the characters from his other novels, Stranger in a Strange Land, etc., even though they are from many different time frames. So if you read first it you might not know who some of these are.................
BTW, there is another version of Stranger In A Strange Land that was published a few years ago that is longer. The original, you might say. The one that was published in the 60’s was severely edited for length and content, but the original manuscript was ‘lost’ over the years until it was found in the garage of an editor who had died, by the son going thru his father’s stuff.....................
Nice, thank you.
2020 sucks.
Those “bros, not bros” bee memes need an update!
12 too many!
Oh great, another lockdown?
Will FauxChi(com) tell us we have to wear kevlar beekeeprs suits outdoors forever?
Only 3 more months!...................What’s next?.......Space Alien Invasion?...................
How do we know that all those unsolicited packages and mailings from the ChiComs in the last few months, didn’t have anything to do with infecting the U.S. with these critters ?
Hitched a ride?
Hitched, heck.
They probably got first class accommodations.
RB, I’ll tell hubby who’s to blame when I’m up all night having nightmares...
Meanwhile, ok, who’s got the napalm?!
yeap... pretty much scariest thing ever...
