It fills the same role for the Russians as the A-10 does for us. It’s actually pretty fearsome in the ground attack role though the A-10 is significantly better.
When the A-X competition that resulted in the A-10 was being let out for bidding, Northrop’s proposal had a similar idea of what would be a good ground attack aircraft. Some people think that Sukhoi’s design borrows considerably from it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northrop_YA-9

We have some guy here in PA that Erdogan wants extradited.
I guess he’s a potential replacement to Erdogan.
Russia might take offense to Turkey flying direct missions in support of their proxy.
Certainly I hope NATO declares Turkey the aggressor in this conflict and NATO support will not be forthcoming.
And the US should declare it publicly.
I beg to differ
He had an lengthy affair with her
I know this first hand
He did not marry her
Fred had A LOT OF WOMEN
Armenia doesn’t have any old junkers like the SU-21. The SU-25s they do have are A-10 counterparts. A-10s are horribly vulnerable to proper fighters and large air to air missiles fired beyond gun range, which is why the Air Force will not fly them in areas where they do not have air superiority or air supremacy.
We also don’t have to see how well the new Russian stuff works against NATO stuff through real combat - the Indians already did that for us, putting their SU-30MKIs up against F-16IN Super Vipers and F-18E/Fs in testing for the recent MRCA tender. Let’s just say it didn’t go all that well for the American aircraft overall, to the point where they didn’t make the shortlist despite being the cheapest through foreign aid. The Eurofighter and Rafale made the shortlist and the Rafale was selected. Boeing and Lockheed actually accepted the fact that basically their aircraft lost on almost every test encounter and that the conditions were fair for all aircraft.
That is what you get for flying them damn ruskie planes.
The good old reliable TRUE MRF F-16 Falcon is the best in its class! And even several classes above!
Erdogan wants a lot of people extradited back to Turkey. More than a few (correctly) fled his government and his repeal of the Ataturk reforms.
You know what I’m wondering? (And yes, this is just speculation. But who’s to say it COULDN’T occur this way?).
According to most prophecy websites, authors, etc., Russia will supposedly participate in the Ezekiel 38 war as God/Magog. Personally, I’ve always thought Vladimir Putin has read the Bible just like we have, knows what Gog/Magog is about, and was too pragmatic to let it happen while he’s in power, just to go after Israel’s oil and natural gas.
BUT .... what if Turkey looks likely to annihilate Azerbaijan, an ally of Russia (assuming the Commonwealth of Independent States still exists)? Likely, Putin would consider it obligatory to defend an ally, and would be less hesitant to bring his military south, since (in his mind) Russia’s purpose would be defensive, not an “official” attack on Israel.
Thanks for your patience with my ramblings, :-)
Gulen is a terrorist. A big friend of CIA’s Graham Fuller who also brought Boston bombers to US.
Well, crap. All my fine blabbing was for naught. Typed Azerbaijan instead of Armenia. Gah!
Azerbaijan is a Turkey’s proxy state.
Don’t try to go deer hunting on that guy’s land either. LOL!
I c:)
“I hope we can get an F35 to test in this mess. (I am kidding...I dont want any US jet anywhere near this shit show.”
Israel has already tested the F35 and it came out just fine.
In flyoff war games, the F-35’s have also been tested against the F-15J’s and the 35’s ruled the skies. The J model F-15 is bigger and better than the F-15’s the US currently has in its inventory. It is planned that we will be buying 75+ of the new eagles within the next two years.
Noteworthy is that no model of the F-15, a 4th generation aircraft introduced in the 1970/s, has ever lost in a real aerial combat encounter.
Generation 6 is on the way as we post.
See my immediately prior post. The F-16 is old, to the point where even Lockheed has decided to completely revise it into something called the F21. And it failed miserably in the Indian MRCA tender.
The SU-30MKI and later variants are planes that are the size of an F-15 that are far more maneuverable than an F-16 and are considerably faster. Proven through open exercises with and against Indians.
Heh, thanks. In that case, I guess it could turn into either/or regarding those two countries. That whole region is nuts anyway. VERY glad I’m not there. :-)
A lot of that is due to how the F-15 was being used, though. There’s questions of how well the Eagle will do if it is deprived of AWACS support in a modern combat enviroment and it has to find targets for itself with that big radar in the nose. Though the new F-15EX variant should help considerably in that respect.
Only Russia can save Armenians from the Turks & Jihadist head-choppers.
Also notable that you are celebrating the fact that someone in an F-16 managed to shoot down what everyone admits is an easy target for an actual fighter design - a subsonic ground attack aircraft - as some sort of huge victory.
Basically, you’re using an incident that’s the aerial equivalent of Mike Tyson in his prime beating up a middle school bully as proof of superiority.
Hey don’t you be talking no stuff about the love of my life.
