Covid-19 tests that give results in minutes to be rolled out across world

0 Tests for Covid-19 that show on-the-spot results in 15 to 30 minutes are about to be rolled out across the world, potentially saving many thousands of lives and slowing the pandemic in both poor and rich countries.

In a triumph for a global initiative to get vital drugs and vaccines to fight the virus, 120m rapid antigen tests from two companies will be supplied to low- and middle-income countries for $5 (£3.90) each or even less.

The tests, which look like a pregnancy test, with two blue lines displayed for positive, are read by a health worker. One test has received emergency approval from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the other is expected to get it shortly.

What are low and middle income countries?

And is cuomo going to have the national guard waiting for the results of your test so they can take you “somewhere safe” for 2 weeks?

Tessio promised Michael that meeting on his turf would be safe.

We all know how good his word was.

We’ve had this technology since Jan. The FDA won’t let us use it because the tests are less sensitive and there’s no automated way of collecting results.

Reduced sensitivity is a feature, not a flaw since sensitivity is more closely aligned to identify active spreaders.

We could have mailed 5 tests to everyone in the US and ended this thing back in March.

Russia is starting to sound, like they may start vaccinating, as early as next month.

Seems like Covid, is about to end.

Just saying.

I already don’t believe any of the results. Going to be false positives everywhere. There’s no possible way these tests ignore the 5 different coronaviruses of the COMMON COLD.

Great. Now the Covid obsessed can test themselves every 5 minutes.

Do I have Covid? Nope. Good.
How about now? Nope.
Now? No.
...
What about now!?

I saw Trump’s presser yesterday. I guess the plan is to drive the mortality rate down to .00001% with massive testing so that he can finally call B.S. on all of this.

I have 2 friends who were supposed to be tested, but neither made their appointments, so you can imagine their surprise when they were both notified of their positive results!

Far too many incidents like this, as well as some labs with 100% positive results here in Florida. Who cares how many cases, when 99% of real cases get better with proper treatment. I’m just thankful for DeSantis calling for an end of masking. It’s past time to stop the stupid!

an amazing accomplishment in just months, and they think Trump is mismanaging the Chinese Flu crisis that China let loose on the world.

In fact, this administration is doing an amazing and incredible job, don’t listen to the corrupt media and the dems, they just can’t see reality.

Add to this, a vaccine in weeks, like I said, amazing.

absolutely....and trump made sure they had the funds to go after this game changer.

Why hasn't Fauci come out on this? Cuz...why vaccinate millions of people who do NOT have the virus. And why FORCE millions to wear masks if they do not have the virus?

Is he ending masking too? I’ll be visiting Florida in a few weeks, and it would be great to find out there’s no mask requirement.

If they use standard PCR virus test models, they will produce tons of false positives. Also, in some cases they will be registering “positive” when all the “virus” found was leftover dead viral pieces from an infection that has passed already.

The standard PCR test looks for certain RNA elements that the virus is known to have, elements that can be used as a signature the virus is there. That is contrary to folks common perception that the tests look for an find whole encapsulated virus units, which is not what the tests do. They identify known parts of the virus.

The problem is that inert parts of the virus can be left, inert but still present after the virus has been defeated, after there is no longer any active whole encapsulated viral units. The work of the immune system when defeating the virus literally cuts it out and breaks it down where it is found. That process works well, but the pieces cut out of a viral unit - making all its parts disconnected and no longer active - can leave a single element in the system, like “dna garbage” that has not been disposed of.

The PCR test can register “positive” after a Wuhan Virus illness has been defeated. I think millions of current tests are showing “positive” with millions of folks who at anytime since the beginning had and passed a mild or asymptomatic Wuhan Virus infection, and have some DNA garbage from the infection still in their system.

One of the topics at tonight’s debate is COVID.

Trump forced the Biden team to scramble at the last moment by introducing this new test.

Imagine a virus so deadly you had to be tested to know you’ve got it

Well it isn’t going below 0.65% since that’s the Infection Fatality Rate. The media is going to look for the biggest numbers they can find. There’s no getting around that until vaccines come out and every number starts dropping sharply. Thankfully, that’s looking like it’ll be starting pretty soon.

Imagine a virus so deadly you had to be tested to know you’ve got it.

My neighbors who are both chain smokers are deathly afraid of Covid. She told me 2 days ago that 900 people a day were dying from Covid in our state and more than 500,000 will have died from Covid in the USA before the end of the year.

Then she told me they both had flu like symptoms in March before tests for Covid were available to the public, but they told me that they tested positive for the flu. So they were “lucky”. I told her that just because they had the flu didn’t mean that they didn’t have Covid. I was just pulling her chain, but she went running off all upset.

Gov. Ron DeSantis lifted all restrictions on restaurants and other businesses in Florida on Friday, and banned local fines against people who refuse to wear masks as he seeks to reopen the state’s economy despite the spread of the coronavirus.

(However, not all county governments have rescinded requirements; so, it’s rather confusing—many businesses still have signs, though most aren’t enforcing them)

Where did you get the IFR?

The Current Best Estimate IFR according to the CDC is

0-19 years: 0.00003
20-49 years: 0.0002
50-69 years: 0.005
70+ years: 0.054

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/hcp/planning-scenarios.html#

This doesn’t seem close to your assertion.
