Law enforcement agencies across the country reported brief outages of their 911 systems Monday night, and it was not immediately clear if there was a connection with a major Microsoft system outage.
Law enforcement agencies around the country, from Nevada to Pennsylvania and Arizona to Minnesota, tweeted that their 911 systems were down beginning sometime after 7 p.m. ET. Multiple reports indicated outages throughout Delaware and Ohio as well.
By 8:15 p.m., many of those departments reported that their services had come back online. Others were still recommending that people call local department numbers instead of the emergency line.
The NYPD said it was aware of the outages, and the possible link to the Microsoft situation, but said its own 911 systems were up and running.
On a status page for its cloud services, the software giant acknowledged a widespread systems issue and said "Any user may experience access problems for Microsoft 365 services." (The city government of Microsoft's own hometown of Redmond, Washington said municipal phones were down due to the company's outage.)

At the same time, theres been a major Microsoft system outage, according to NBC.
On a status page for its cloud services, the software giant acknowledged a widespread systems issue and said Any user may experience access problems for Microsoft 365 services. (The city government of Microsofts own hometown of Redmond, Washington said municipal phones were down due to the companys outage.)
The Microsoft outage prevented users from accessing some of the companys most widely used services, including Office.com, Outlook.com, and Teams. Some of the problem has since resolved, although some on the west coast are still suffering issues.
On top of that, Universal Health Services, one of the nations largest health care providers, has been suffering a massive cyberattack since Sunday, knocking them offline and crippling operations in many of their hospitals with their computers down across their systems. They have 26 acute care hospitals, 328 behavioral health facilities and 42 outpatient facilities across the U.S., Puerto Rico and the U.K.
Its unclear if the various things are related yet.

Is that ET trying to contact us? :)
The IT Crowd
Good thing I’m not paranoid or I might start to believe crazy ideas. Like, maybe this was a test, or a proof of capability that someone could take down 911. That is, before certain parties committed to other courses of action. Things we may not see until early November...
New meaning for Blue Screen of Death...
Amazon AWS has excellent failover options.
Its the best cloud solution to build on.
I half-way expect everything to go dark on Nov 3.
Solar storms can be serious business.
Are the 911 systems all linked nation-wide?
What is the number for social wokers?
Its kind of suspicious, especially with Microsoft involved. Gates is deep state.
I had no idea that all the 911 call systems were connected. I always assumed each 911 center was connected to the local switching area and were separate. I see no possible reason they should be interconnected since each 911 center only handles their immediate area.
Regardless of how or why this should be a wake up call.
If you can knock out so many 911 centers by just attacking one location then things need to change.
No, but cloud services could be.
It appears it was longer than an hour here in Northern Nevada.
