True, and I hate to admit. Used it for two years. Never had an issue.

Massive panic attacks among the defund-the-cops crew and they overwhemlmed the system calling for help...

Good thing I’m not paranoid or I might start to believe crazy ideas. Like, maybe this was a test, or a proof of capability that someone could take down 911. That is, before certain parties committed to other courses of action. Things we may not see until early November...

My first thought...

Can anyone in the know chip in with info.

If there is a neighborhood power outage do not the laws tell the phone companies that 911 access must continue to operate?

I believe old school laws required landline telco companies to continue to provide a dialtone for 911 calls. For like 4 hours minimum.

Anybody know ?

That was the case the last time I had to check. The problem is that many land lines have been disconnected. It’s the cell phone capacity and back up that matters today.

We watched the VP debate on my cell phone because the power was out to the house.

Idiots in my county want nothing to do about this.

They are telling me to hire a lawyer and go after my landline company. CenturyLink is the pits.

Pasco county 911 blames the sheriff’s office, and vice-versa.

Good luck with that.

Most courts would toss it out. And there are rules from the ultility where they are not liable for credits/reimbursement for anything under a day or two.

The 911 service is “a service” not a legal obligation.

(I worked in the Telecom biz for 15 years in customer service. Different type of stuff, but I was familiar with their “laws”.)

btw —

I have no desire to do that legal thing. It’s just showing you the arogance of the 911 people. They take my money and wont even listen to the public.

The idea that there are laws about this service and how it must be rendered to the public and nobody in county govt gives a crap.

I called my two candidates for county commisioner on my ballot. They ‘seemed’ to care, they want my vote at this juncture.

Note: This backup dialtone and 911 worked for many years and its only in the last 6 months that it hasn’t. Just plain lack of maintenance by landline company.
