President Trump officially nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the seat vacated by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg on the Supreme Court.
Judge Barrett, who was surrounded by her husband and seven children, declared her devotion to the nation and the law during remarks she delivered in the Rose Garden.
I love the United States and I love the United States Constitution, she said thunderous applause.
Barrett said she clerked for the late Justice Antonin Scalia more than 20 years ago.
His judicial philosophy is mine, too, she said. A judge must apply the law as written. Judges are not policy makers and they must be resolute in setting aside any policy views they may hold.
Well, thats good enough for me!

No wonder the Democrats hate her.
She loves the things which the Democrat Party despises.
On various “Conservative” forums many people are citing her ruling wrt Illinois governor’s ability to lock down the state. She upheld that.
And, they are howling she’s unfit. But, the liberal state of Illinois State Constitution clearly gives its governor that authority.
She interprets the law as written not as she wishes it to be.
Some Conservatives seem to wish for a Conservative Activist Judge and NOT a strict Constitutionalist.
Precisely why the Democrats find her to be unqualified.
I like her POV. Lib judges love to reinterpret hard law and warp the meaning as they see fit. They’ve done a lot of damage to this country as a result.
Sometimes, those willing to spout Lefty drivel just to make nice wind up letting their actual analytical powers get infected by such drivel in substantive ways down the road. Let us pray this will not happen to her!
The Constitution of the United States is supreme to the state Constitution of Illinois.
I love the United States and I love the United States Constitution,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I love that she said this. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen any jurist or politician put it so simply and directly.
RBG was very clear that she didn’t like our Constitution and thought that South Africa had a better one.
The 10th Amendment. States Rights.
The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
The 1st Amendment - Right to Assemble.
Illinois State Consitution grants the Governor Emergency Powers for a limited time in cases of a declared emergency. They are not perpetual. That State Constitutional Law was found not to conflict with the First Amendment in that it is reaction to a specific emergency and is not perpetual. And, Barrett cited many many instances wherein the History of the country such emergency powers were found to be Constitutional. Including, during the Civil War and the Second World War. States of riot and insurrection, to name a few.
Both the 1st Amendment and the 10th Amendment are within the purview of The Bill of Rights.
The lawsuit against Illinois was filed at the height of the Wuhan Virus epidemic. Her ruling was justified at the time of the filing of the suit.
If Illinois continues to push for lockdown as the Virus subsides and the plaintiffs file for relief for cause. IE, the continued lockdown is no longer justified they will get a rehearing. They judgement said exactly that.
It’s a garbage ruling. It also violates the 14th Amendment.
Equal protection under the law.
What stores were deemed essential?
Here’s why my scumbag Governor lost.
Tom Wolfe is not the Governor of Illinois. The ruling was specifically concerning Illinois and the terms of the suit against that state and the conditions of the pandemic at the time.
You didn’t address the 14th Amendment issue, nor answer the question.
Enjoy standing up for tyranny because it’s from “our” side.
It is the fourth most litigated Amendment behind the first, second, and tenth. Under emergency declarations, for a limited period of time, it too has been on numerous occasions been deemed acceptable to be temporarily suspended.
As for the arbitrary designations by governors and localities as to what is essential and not, that is a legitimate concern. I hate to say this, but, it is a fact that you get the gov’t you voted for. It is why many people are voting with their feet.
North American Van Lines, Atlas Van Lines, and many other relocation companies are so swamped they are turning people away in certain states.
Evil Vile Person Alert!
