There were plenty of red MAGA hats and T-shirts on Saturday at President Donald Trump’s campaign rally at Harrisburg International Airport.
But the one thing conspicuously missing from the majority of people? Face masks.
Thousands stood shoulder to shoulder, packed even beyond the immediate capacity of the private hangar, and most were without masks. Among those who had masks, many had them pulled down to their chins.
“I’m over it,” Jackie Logsdon of Chambersburg said about the coronavirus and wearing masks, one of the major pieces of guidances from health officials. “Nope, I’m over it. I do believe in it, but I’m over it.” No face masks at Trump rally
The majority of people who packed the hangar area at Trump's rally at HIA Saturday wore no face mask.
Erik Wayne, who drove from New Jersey to attend the rally, wore his mask below his chin.
“It just gets to the point...that..I’m an old guy. It gets hard to breathe," he said. “I don’t believe in masks, but I got one with me.”
Many of those seated on the stage directly behind Trump were wearing masks as the president spoke. They wore masks with the “MAGA” emblem. But many before the rally began weren’t wearing masks.
Those attending were able to grab free masks. The campaign staff provided hand sanitizer and said those attending would be encouraged to wear masks. Temperature checks were conducted on those entering.
Many of the people who spoke for this article said the coronavirus was no longer a concern in Pennsylvania.
The Pennsylvania Department of Health reported 1,029 new coronavirus cases Saturday, raising the statewide total to 155,232.
It’s the first time in a week the state has reported more than 1,000 new cases in a day, a mark the state has hit a few times in September. The health department reported more than 1,100 cases on Sept. 19. By comparison, the state didn’t register 1,000 new cases in day in the month of August.
On the upside, the number of coronavirus patients in hospitals (just under 450) is far lower than the peak in the spring, when about 2,800 were hospitalized.
Still, Gov. Tom Wolf has criticized Trump for holding large rallies in Pennsylvania.
The Democratic governor issued a statement Friday calling Trump’s continued scheduling of large campaign rallies in Pennsylvania dangerous and wrong, and urged all attendees “to think of the health and safety of their families and their communities before attending... any rally put on by the Trump campaign.” Few at Trump's rally wore masks
Vicki Lightcap of Pennsburg said she was confident that the likelihood that she would contract the coronavirus because she wore no face mask was very low.
Vicki Lightcap, who drove from the Allentown area, wore no mask, but said she believed in science.
“In the state of Pennsylvania the percentage of people who are actually sick compared to other states is very, very small percentage,” she said. “There is only a small percentage that anyone would get the virus.”
Lightcap chose a spot at the rally near the media area, which allowed her to turn her back to the crowd.
That is strictly the VIP (white wrist band) crowd directly behind the podium. One of the conditions for getting the wrist-band.
Of the 200+ cops in the bleacher to right, maybe a dozen were masked. Maybe.

We were indirectly exposed to someone who was just in the hospital with COVID, he has other health issues but he’s back home and doing fine. We got checked out and we’re negative. Another anecdote, our lovely daughter is a CNA who takes care of a 71 yr old veteran with ALS. A couple of months ago he was in the VA hospital because of an abscess but in spite of his condition, NEVER showed symptoms of COVID.

I also went to the Miden NV rally 3 weeks ago! So fun.
I think the fact that they take temps at these rallies really helps. A high temp is associated with 40% of covid cases, so we already knew once past security that we were more or less NOT infected or contagious.
I did choose to wear a mask at Minden (I’m in the SF Bay Area and too well “trained” not to now)—most didn’t and that was fine with me.
It’s very, very hard to catch this virus outside. 99% of the time it’s transmitted indoors.
I think I read Minden rally in Sept was the first largest gathering in the United States since March! So glad to have been a part of that. I’ve now seen 4 Presidents in person.
You would think. Also now that Gov. deSantis lifted the restrictions in FL, betchya the opportunistic ghouls in the Dem party are praying for an October surprise, a killer COVID spike here so FL turns blue. After turning RBG’s funeral into a sleazy political stunt, like they did with Rep Cummins, I wouldn’t put it past them.
The unwashed have finally figured out it was a hoax backed by hysterics and panic. The legacy of some of these jerks will be a century supply of toilet paper.

We were at the prayer march. Some masks but none on us. Not even in the restaurant where we ate dinner.
DC is still on some high level of lockdown and people are just done.
So when are we going to start hearing about these outbreaks of new cases among Trump rally attendees?
Probably never. Because no outbreaks EVER HAPPENED.
You know if the MSM could find just ONE Trump rally attendee who tested positive after attending an event, it would be trumpeted 24/7 on all news outlets.

This masking fad has gotten so far past insane that it’s almost pathetic ... but it’s certainly pathological. It’s so sad to see adults — both “men” and women — behaving like, well, scared little b!tches ... and teaching their kids to grow up that way.
It’s what freedom looks like.

I don’t like being around the diapered...great for maintaining “social distancing” because its making me even more antisocial.
