I live in the 2nd District. It is a GOP leaning district but not heavily so. Until 2018, it was in GOP hands for about 15 years.
Per the article, the race for Congress has now been postponed 'til early next year.
Incumbent Dem Rep Angie Craig will vacate this seat on January 3rd and it will remain vacant until the winner of the special election takes the seat.
Comments or opinions - anyone?
Why are they postponing? If the Weed candidate wins, they just pick someone to take their place.
democrats turn out less in non-presidential elections so this can only help
I guess he took one toke over the line, sweet Jesus.
The Legal Marijuana Now party is a major political party in Minnesota? Who knew?
This is going straight to court.
“and was recovering from addiction” ah, there’s a surprise.....
Who gets to define "major party"?
Article I, Section 4:
The Times, Places and Manner of holding Elections for Senators and Representatives, shall be prescribed in each State by the Legislature thereof; but the Congress may at any time by Law make or alter such Regulations, except as to the Places of chusing Senators.
It seems the election will take place but the results won’t count. WTF.
Silly law passed after Wellstone died and Mondale couldn’t get his 11K absentee votes. Total BS, especially since it involves a minor party candidate. Let there be a special election if the dead weed guy wins lol. Letting the votes transfer to the new candidate is also fine with me for this rare circumstance. Florida did that when that fag Foley withdrew, his name stayed on the ballot but the votes went toward the new nominee (who lost, sadly).
This happened in the UK in 2010, delayed the vote for a safe seat. Silly.
That said, this could be good for us, a low turnout election in Feb for a seat that is 50/50 at best in November. If we win though you hate to give the dyke bitch another chance. Whoever wins in November will take this crap to Federal court.
I guess his “medicine” didn’t save him.
