Votes in hand, Senate Republicans are charging ahead with plans to confirm President Donald Trumps pick to fill the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburgs Supreme Court seat before the Nov. 3 election, launching a divisive fight over Democratic objections before a nominee is even announced.
Trump said Tuesday he will name his choice Saturday, confident of support. Democrats say its too close to the election, and the winner of the presidency should name the new justice. But under GOP planning, the Senate could vote Oct. 29.
I guess we have all the votes were going to need, Trump told WJBX FOX 2 in Detroit. I think its going to happen.

Cue Dandy Don (who is rolling in his grave over the state of his beloved nfl).
Good! No hearings!!
I’m guessing that Mitch is trying to wargame how the timing of a vote would affect key Senate races, and getting input from various GOP senators in competitive states.
Saturday, 26th. Picked...vote on Oct 29th? Why wait a month???
sorry, the pearl grasping corner has already lost it at turtle, the gop, and various other related innocents in another thread downstream.
sometimes, FR seems to have more than its fair share of three year old girls.
They need time to come up with a reason to not hold the vote.
so when they shoot the candidate down, they can’t do anything else by then, before the election. Don’t trust the swamp. gives the Demoklan a month to rally the issue.
Sounds late to me.
The sooner the SC hears any potential WI, MI and PA cases, the easier the cheating can be stopped.
“Why wait a month???”
I wouldn’t; there’s too much at stake. But drawing things out a bit does allow the Democrats to make even more spectacular asses of themselves to the awakening public.
A 4-4 tie in the court going into what will undoubtedly be a contested election is unacceptable.
[Those familiar with the process said interest inside the White House seemed to be waning for Lagoa amid concerns she did not have a proven record as a conservative jurist. ]
Not enough time to get it done by then. Schumer has invoked the “two hour rule” which will make it very hard to have hearings...or any other business.
If they find some way to stall just a couple weeks, the SC will be deadlocked during election counts. This is pushing it way too close. This should be jammed down. The Dem stalling will be epic.
The Daily Mail article was fake news, as discussed in the thread about it. Didn’t you read any of the comments?
Don’t stop your opponent when they’re busy screwing up.
It’s sad. If John Roberts wasn’t compromised, we wouldn’t have to go through this sh*t. Then it would just be the CR and the COVID-IV package (hopefully not the version passed in the house at the behest of the 7-year-old girl leading that body).
I assume there will be a hearing. Since Justices have been confirmed in as little as 2 weeks, this hopefully won’t take long.
