The Guardian ^ | September 22, 2020 | Zoe Williams

The death of ( Ruth Bader Ginsburg) raises the immediate question of whether or not President Trump will be able to (successfully install) a new supreme court justice before the election, or be thwarted. There are electoral benefits to him in either case: he gets his replacement through – among the names touted are Amy Coney Barrett and Barbara Lagoa, both candidates representing a further lurch to the right – or his failure to do so motivates his base.

(RBG on Roe v Wade) ... A pretty fair assessment.

If he nominates Barrett, the GOP will lose the Senate.

Pro infanticide. This is not a choice

I’d be interested in your reasoning for this?
I have not seen this before.
Thanks

Every time I hear a conservative use the term "pro-choice" instead of abortion I want to scream.

We need to stop using the verbiage of the Left.

Why do you believe this?

I feel totally opposite. Securing an originalist jurist would in my opinion energize the conservative base big time.

We have got to stop the killing of babies willy nilly. This is crazy.

More like when he nominates Barret, you will lose your mind.

This SCOTUS vote before the election will demoralize Dem voters who are already morose with their lackluster demented low energy candidate. The economy is rebounding, Covid fading, and the Biden riots have made Law and Order a huge suburban winning issue for Trump.

Dem turnout could be low. They are losing, losing, losing.

This is so over the top. At worst, from their standpoint, is it will throw it back to the states which was were it should have been decided.

It's actually the pro-lifers that have a fight on their hands.

The U.S. Supreme Court ceased to become a major political issue for me as soon as Neil Gorsuch wrote the majority opinion in that case protecting "sexual orientation" and "gender identity" under the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Anyone who thinks these dopes are going to overturn Roe v. Wade is going to be terribly disappointed.

Yes, having the power, we should throw it away because we're afraid of being called names by the lefties.

What is the point of winning, then?

This is not a fight over pro-choice.. it is a fight to force Americans to fund the taking of innocent life.

"If he nominates Barrett, the GOP will lose the Senate."

Little baby boys and little baby girls are getting their arms and legs ripped off and you're concern is holding the Senate?

Good God - if we continue to allow this, like slavery in the 1800s, we are not worthy of being a free nation.

Making the 2020 election about abortion will cause the GOP to lose support, lose the Senate, lose the presidency. The Democrats have become a complete sh*t show. Let them remain a sh*t show.

The Senate is lost anyway. The wise Cubana is another Roberts. Cram Barret down their throats - it's the last chance until 2023, when retaking the Senate will be possible.

I see Roe v Wade as abortion on welfare...making babies free of responsibility...

As I said at the time of his nomination, any Catholic who defects to the Episcopalian heresy does so for one of two reasons - baby killing or gay affirmation.
