While my preference would be Judge Barrett, I think the political calculus raises Lagoa to the top of the list. The Dems will have a very hard time attacking a female Latino since they need the Hispanic vote.

The dems will attack anyone Trump selects no matter sex or color.

It is up to McConnell to make sure it goes nowhere but the press.

My thinking tracks with yours precisely. I was looking at the revised list last night and focused on these two for the same reasons

Is there a non-binary or transgender strict constitutionalist of color that Trump can nominate? That might knock the Left off-balance.

Barbara Lagoa would be awesome.

Female. Hispanic. Floridian.

The Democrats will demonize her. They can’t help themselves. Ans they will lose more Hispanic votes.

The only way it won't be Barrett is if she decides she doesn't want to go through the hell of getting the seat. They'll go after her family. It will be nasty. It doesn't matter that she (or ANY Trump nominee) is squeaky clean. The left will pull every evil deed they can think of to sideline the nomination.

There has to be a conservative black female somewhere in this country. This is a meatball pitch waiting for us to hit a grand slam. Why would we let the Dems off the hook. Make them vote down a black female to the supreme court and see where that gets them.

It would be nice to see a wise Latina as opposed to a wide Latina on the court !

Whoever it is I hope he does it fast. Like Monday. Or sooner. While the left is in shock and the media is all over RGBs life and funeral.

The Senate approved Lagoa for the 11th Circuit by an 80-15 vote. Bad sign.

You want to see trouble? Nominate anyone other then Amy Barrett and you’ll get a huge black lash from the right. Trump has teased us enough. Last time he said he was saving Barrett RBG seat, well it’s time, RBG seat is to be replaced.

The nominee needs to be a guaranteed pro second amendment judge. If we screw this up, our gun rights are gone. If we get this right, the second amendment is protected for generations.

Just how many wise Latinas does a court of 9 need?

I don’t like how she sailed though the Senate.

If Trump wants this to go through quickly — and it’s clear that he does — his nominee must be a woman. I hope so as it would be “fun” watching the “Party of women” rip a woman apart in the televised confirmation hearings.

I don't' really care other than the pick strikes total fear in the left. The Supreme court is a lost cause and has been for a long time now. From a conservative standpoint the best we can ever hope for is to minimize damage.

It's a pretty high probablity the people mentioned here as potential nominees will ultimately disappoint if they make it to the court. Again the best case is that they don't significantly add to our problems.

It would be a big mistake to nominate a women. The two women we've had have been an utter disaster. Picking a women at this point is clearly pandering and pandering is something we can't afford to even appear to be doing even if we are not. The chances of finding a true conservative judge is practically zero to begin with and the chances that judge would be a women even less. That being said if the President can get a women that will simply do less harm then that will have to do.

Lastly, our side needs to understand this idea of a conservative judge is a fantasy. For the most part, they simply don't exist. Yes there are very very rare examples that slip through the system every now and then but conservatives need to realize we will NEVER have more than one or two on the court at any one time, ever. So stop looking to SCOTUS to one day return our government to a constitutional replublic, it won't. The people are going to have to do this in the form of a series of Constitutional Amendments. The idea we will someday pick the winning 5 numbers in the Supreme Court lottery is wasting our time and effort. The justices are not the problem. The power we have allowed the court to usurp is the real problem that needs to be addressed.

Sorry for the rant.

They will...although...it makes it more politically precarious.
