Restaurants in Pennsylvania are being asked to self-certify with the state that they are following the COVID-19 guidelines. And those that do will be permitted to increase their capacity.
The self-certification for restaurants requires them to submit online through the DCEDs website that they meet all of the states coronavirus prevention guidelines. The submission form will be available online starting on September 21.
Self-certifying your establishment shows your employees and customers that you care about their health and well-being, and demonstrates your commitment to helping mitigate the spread of COVID-19 in the commonwealth, said Secretary Dennis Davin of the Department of Economic Development. This process is a simple, commonsense way for restaurants to increase their capacity and put themselves on the path to financial recovery, all while taking the necessary steps to protect their communities.
There is no penalty for businesses that choose not to go through with the self-certification process. However, those that do self-certify will be permitted to increase their indoor occupancy to 50 percent of their usual occupancy limit. This doubles the current 25 percent limit due to the states COVID-19 restrictions.
Restaurants that complete the process will also be entered into an online database informing customers of which restaurants have completed the process, and they will also receive items such as window signage from the state announcing that they have met the states requirements.
There is no cost for the self-certification, though restaurants with multiple locations will have to certify individually for each location.
Governor Wolf announced in early September that the self-certification process would coincide with the expansion of restaurant capacity on September 21. The administration has released a list answering frequently asked questions about the process, as well as an updated restaurant guidance list. The deadline for the online self-certification process is October 5.

You’re exactly right!
“Voluntary” has a way of morphing into mandatory in Pennsylvania.
Yes, Wolf was put in his place and this is retaliation... He’s playing cards with peoples businesses to hold on to power he believes he’s entitled to. You can bet Cuomo has his hands in this.
If owners don’t fight this then they deserve to fail.

It's not even close. A real cheese steak starts with an Amoroso's roll. There is only one bakery in the world that makes the correct roll. Lower your expectations about the meat. While a lot better than Arby's, do not think it is some gourmet thing with filet, rib eye or NY strip. The meat is thinly sliced and cooked through. Toppings should be limited. The best places have steady business at all hours. This means they have limited toppings so they can make cheese steaks fast. You want to look for a place that has a flattop grill that has mounds of meat and onions. Typical choices for cheese are provolone or cheese whiz (not my favorite). You can get a cheese steak with or with out onions. When you order you just say, in the following order, the cheese, and whether you want onions. For example, one provey wid. Or one whiz wid'out. ('Wid' is how 'with' is pronounced).
Beware of tourist traps. I'm not a fan of Geno's or Pat's, they are famous but they are just okay. It's a personal thing. Most people who grew up in Philadelphia prefer what they grew up with - meaning their neighborhood deli. When you enter a good deli there needs to be hanging meats, rolls out in the open, a small grocery area and a pickle barrel. There is a distinctive smell that hits your nose as you walk it.
One more thing. A cheese steak is not a sandwich. It's not a sub, hoagie, or grinder. It's just a cheese steak.
My Greek friends in the restaurant business swear that Dalessandro’s are the best...for the reasons stated upstream by ConservativeinPA.
This Pennlive bunch are genuine communists.
We can’t MAKE you do anything so will you pretty please volunteer to give up all the information we can use to scrutinize and find fault with you ?
He should have gone to Genos since the owner was an outspoken conservative and took a lot of heat from the Philadelphia democrat mob. But Delasandros is delish and much closer to me.
(But those South Philly ones ain't too bad either, no matter what anybody tells you! Try them yourself!)

Don’t let the name fool you. Wins “best cheesesteak” awards every time.
Ive never been to PA, and Ive thought about vacationing there for no other reason than Ive always wanted a real, true, Philly Cheesesteak...
They are good, but nothing like a Primantis Sandwich (Pittsburgh area and select other locations).
Dalessandro’s is the best.
Roast pork with broccoli rabe is their #1.
Don’t You Want Me by Human League.
