That is a lame brained reason for a firing.

You have to show that some critical part of coordinating the Fire Response was neglected by helping that individual.

Having said that, the fact is, government by nature, does not help individuals. Government by nature is a force to control, coerce, and kill, not to help individuals. Too many have that confused.

Nevertheless, those within government can and should help individuals if and when they’re able.

“I did so with the specific understanding that my visit had been cleared with the appropriate team personnel,” said Walker. He said after, Hampton’s assessment was that he had overstepped his role and took action without the authority to do so.

His excuse is the one one that smells to me. He could have sent out a group to both fight the fire and look for his missing subordinate. Getting clearance from "appropriate team personnel" sounds a bit weasely. Who tells the chief he's free to drop out? His subordinates might have given him the OK. But if the governor and whoever else the chief reports to are working through the chief's second all the time, THAT'S who should be charge.

If the old chief is in the right, he should be seeking counsel to clear his good name.

The fact is, government by nature, does not help individuals. Government by nature is a force to control, coerce, and kill, not to help individuals. Too many have that confused.

For example, our federal government was created to be a LIMITED power to protect us from invasion which includes force and killing. UNLIMITED government, which we have now, is when the government tries to coerce and kill its own citizens.

Nevertheless, those within government can and should help individuals if and when they’re able.

From OregonLive.com:

Walker, the source said, had effectively turned over day-to-day management of the fires to his chief deputy, Mariana Ruiz-Temple.

Ruiz-Temple was appointed the acting fire marshal while Walker was on leave. She has since been appointed as fire marshal.

He may have known the source of a few fires and wasn’t willing to keep his mouth shut.

I’ll give you one: When the governer and anyone else who needed to work with the chief were being directed to second all the time, that should tell you is doing the big job of fighting the fires and who was neglecting it. If the chief was out doing a small job, he wasn’t around to do the big job he was put in place to do.

the lesbian tag

In this day and age where Mindless, Delusional Leftist Politician Correctness overrides everything including reason and value, the presumption is that the replacement probably WILL be a morbidly obese entitled black woman or a lesbian (or both). It's happened all over the country where the Left is in control.

A lesbian replacement is a valid presumption IMO, which is rebuttable upon clear and convincing evidence otherwise. IMO, you, Mr. Fury should present C&C evidence that the replacement will not be some morbidly obese entitled black woman or a lesbian (or both)

Management 10 says that you have to show that some critical part of Fire Response was neglected by helping that individual.

Well Incident Command 101 tells you something different. The incident commander should not be out of the office, out of touch, and helping one person.

Emergency Management is not a forgiving business.

And there are lots of expressions of emotion on this topic. Emergency Managers are some of the least emotional people I know. If you are going to be the Head of the Fire Marshalls, I would imagine you know this.

So, we have Management 101, Incident command 101, and General Order #1 (I will not quit my post until properly relieved). He ignored or disobeyed all of them.

Again, I think there is more to this than meets the eye—such as “who is this employee” and why are they so important that the fire marshall is going to leave their post?

As long as critical neglect can be shown, fair enough. But is should be shown and clarified. Maybe it will come out later. But the way the these Leftists run these things, I doubt we’ll see a truthful explanation.

“Nevertheless, those within government can and should help individuals if and when they’re able.”

Exactly. Nothing wrong with helping others, especially when it’s on your own time. I’m amazed by the government bootlickers here looking for a reason to defend the power play.

This little piece of reporting clarifies that Jim Walker was doing this after hours. Seems to me he was the kind of guy who was committed to this job, not the kind of person you fire at the drop of a hat... If only we could fire governors this easily!

“Thursday night, Walker traveled through the dark and dense smoke of the canyon, looking for the employee’s relative and four other people in their household.”

Questions like, “Was he ever actually ‘out of touch’?”, “How long was he gone?”, “Did he have permission?”, etc. seem relevant and the answers unclear and the reaction from management not necessarily validated.

Bray made the suggestion, I did not.

And your logic is a bit flawed. But whatever.

I think bray made a reasonable and validly-presumed suggestion in today’s world.

As I said, I think it is up to you to rebut the presumption with C&C evidence to the contrary.

We'll agree to disagree. I think it's intellectually lazy to make a suggestion and then essentially say "prove it's not correct". But that's the beauty of FR - it takes all kinds to make a good discussion.

However, Walker spoke with KOIN 6 News Saturday evening during which he said he was placed on leave by OSP Superintendent Travis Hampton after trying to help a co-worker whose family was missing in a fire zone.

The chief is telling us himself what he did and why he thinks he was put on leave. He left a big job in someone else's hands while he was out doing a small job. He was put in place to do the big job. He could have ordered others to do the small job. By putting him on leave, his superior told us the old chief exercised poor judgement in a crisis.

Given all we know about how Oregon is currently being run, why would anyone make the assumption this was a good change? Also, why would anyone assume the facts and statements are reported accurately?

It is not intellectually lazy if the suggestion is based on a valid presumption. In that case, it’s on the opponent to prove the presumption in this particular case is wrong. Nothing wrong with that. Works in a court of law.

I agree with FR being a wonderful place to discuss and debate. That is one great strength we have over the Delusional Lying Left because they have no rationale and ALWAYS lose in the forum of ideas against anyone armed with the slightest valid rationale.

I feel like we sharpen our reasoning, understanding, and ability to attack the lie when we engage in these good-faith discussions/debates that force us to question our own assumptions about things, abandon flawed ideas, and sharpen rationale for valid ideas. Makes us better Patriots in the good fight of faith and freedom.

I wish more FReepers had the will, patience, and ability to actually engage in more good-faith discussions/debates like this one.

The old chief should hire counsel to bring the truth to light, if he’s in the right. I think the old chief told us enough in his own words.
