There are also reports that Walker was off duty at the time - and again nothing about why Walker’s decision was flawed at the time and under the circumstances.
In combat a soldier is required to follow orders AND use common sense and the make best decision at the time. Rules are guidelines but they cannot replace reality or good decision-making.
The chief told us what he did he did and the action his superior took. That’s my citation.
Where are Walker’s words and your proof that he was “on leave?”
...Or “off duty.” No matter. The old state fire chief wasn’t at his post while his subordinates did his job, whatever the reason. If he was off duty, his superior didn’t think so and acted accordingly. It’s all out of his hands now.
I look forward to hearing about the chief’s suit against the state of Oregon. I hope he does it. The truth needs to come out and his good name restored.
