I’m seeing reports of incendiaries being staged. And we’re being bombarded with requests not to spread rumors, with statements like “No anti-fascists have been arrested in connection with the fires.” Maybe that’s the problem. Reports of shots fired, arsonist with spray backpack shot in the leg....
Smoke is settling in to the Reno/Truckee meadows area again today. Visibility probably 1/2 to 3/4 of a mile. Not good for a visit by PDJT today. Haven’t heard if it’s still on or not. Feel bad for folks with respiratory issues. The air quality index is solid red and appears to be in that position for several more days. Again.
The blessing for Eastern Washington and North Idaho is that the forecast is generally calm winds with a chance of rain (higher humidity). This will help slow and suppress the fires.
The curse is that the lack of winds and/or powerful fronts moving through has caused the massive amounts of smoke and particulate to just settle down on top of them.

It looks as though Canada is also having wildfires across the border in the Pacific NW. Note the extremely dry conditions just north of Montana which could be the location of further fires if the drought continues longer.
Must be nice to have a ready-made excuse for every self-inflicted problem.

Climate change is making fires stronger...Arson causes climate change? Who’da thunk?
I suspect if the BLM had tended to their lands better or laws let people clear out years of underbrush on their properties, any number of bad environmental nonsensical laws could have prevented some of these fires. Climate change has nothing to do with the latter or the insanity of using fireworks in the dry conditions.....acute impacts of climate change?...how 'bout decades of idiot feel good laws about husbandry of private and public lands.
