Pre-pandemic, road trips were as simple as making a great playlist, hopping in the car, and seeing where the wind takes you. But, as I found on a recent road trip in an RV, the coronavirus has complicated things. Public restrooms are few and far between, getting gas and eating out can be a risk, and planning ahead is imperative. The CDC still warns that "travel increases your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19."

I traveled from CO to GA and back in the height of it in April. The only hard thing was finding sit down restaurants. Sounds like Karen whining to me. And driving from CA anywhere is usually a good decision...lol
why? Just takes a few min to check which states require tests/quarantine, easy to steer travels around those
Knock off the anti white slur.
We have driven to a few nearby places in south central Kansas without problem. After I work at our local polling place on Election Day we will depart at zero dark thirty Wednesday to visit in Arizona. Virus is the least of our worries. Had the Chinese flu here in January and am pretty sure we survived. YMMV.
Completely rebuild Route 66 into a divided four-lane highway.
But instead of a highway, it'll be a boulevard. And l
You can do it, especially if you avoid urban areas. Ive travelled a by car lot in the South this summer and the urban areas were more of a problem, but even so it was always possible to find a place to eat or stay. And some places, unless under heavy government surveillance, just ignored the restrictions.
I always gave those places my business, of course. On the other hand, if a place was too oppressive about its masking and social distancing, I just went elsewhere until I found a more comfortable environment.
Oh, I should have mentioned, some states (NM, for example) had quarantine requirements if you were going to stay there. A friend found out those states and just drove through without stopping.
Due to campsites being overbooked, I am thinking about purchasing a boat.
“... getting gas and eating out can be a risk...”???
What a crock of whiny woke BS.
Horse-hockey - I’ve driven to five ‘vacations’ - everything has been pretty much normal, except for the lighter traffic..
I travel for my work. Taken many flights this year (California’s and the Carolinas) but at the hight of the covid insanity gave that up and started driving. We have made the big loop of Michigan down to Texas up to Idaho and back over to Michigan twice this year and about to do it again. The only place we had trouble was Wisconsin when a hotel requested our travel papers to get a room. We avoid large population centers if we can, and always avoid the state of Illinois completely - we turn down all projects from there. Continental breakfast is a thing of the past, unfortunately. Other than that, no problem
Um...RVs have a generator, fridge, microwave and stove. Eating is a non-issue.
Gasoline was never an issue.
Full campsites in the summer months, yeah, many were booked.
Author’s a wuss.
The Rocjes in autumn
Nothing prettier
What anti-white slur?
“Karen” is not tied to a race - it is tied to an attitude.
I don’t know where this person went, but I just got back two weeks ago from visiting my youngest son in Indiana, and ran into no problems at all, on the way out or back. I drove from my home in Central New York State to Ashland, Ohio to stay overnight. I had already booked my room online a few days before, at supper at a Buffalo Wings and Things down the street before retiring for the night. Got up next morning, went to Bob Evans for breakfast, stopped at a Dunkin’ Donuts to get a coffee to go, and completed the rest of my trip on Saturday. I stayed with my youngest son for two weeks. Went grocery shopping regularly, ordered food online for pickup, accompanied him one day so he could have a colonoscopy done (he’d had surgery in 2019 for cancerous polyps), and basically repeated the same procedure on the way back except I ate at different restaurants, but stayed at the same hotel. All the rest stops were open in New York, Ohio and Indiana both ways. Was this person trying to get to the Lost city of the Monkey God in Honduras?
Uh, rent an RV with a toilet? Buy a composting/compacting portable? Our neighbors sold their house and headed out in their 5th wheel. Nv down to Fl back to Or and now back in Nv for a while. All during the scamDEMic. They didn’t seem to have any problems.
