The most shocking thing about the Jessica Krug scandal is that people are shocked by it. Sure, Krug’s behavior was immoral, deceitful and cynical. For a white Kansas-born academic to pretend to be a North African-descended black woman or a Caribbean-descended black woman from The Bronx — she liked to mix it up — is out of order. But it isn’t shocking. Not today. Not in an era in which people are more often rewarded for their identities, especially if it’s a victim identity, rather than for their achievements.
Krug was an associate professor at George Washington University. Her academic focus was on Africa and the African diaspora. Fellow academics, and observers more broadly, are now asking why someone would do such a thing and how she could get away with it. The question of how she got away with it is a good one, not least for anyone who has seen the cringing videos of Krug speaking in a clearly phony slangish New York accent or, worse, teaching people salsa dancing. She salsa-dances like someone who thinks Chipotle is the high-point of Latino cuisine. Why the clever teachers and students at GWU didn’t twig that this was all a bit forced, all a bit am-dram, is something worth interrogating.
One likely reason is that, whatever about her patter and her dance moves, Krug performed academic wokeness to perfection. As one report says, she was a favorite among students because she was so good at “dismantling whiteness” and “calling out anti-blackness.” One student praised her “recasting” of the “Eurocentric” view of world history.
It seems that in the academic setting of GWU a professor who wore bright colors ... and who “dismantled whiteness” was instantly seen by students and others as authentic.

When I see one of those asinine Leftist signs that say “Science Is Real” I want to say: “What kind of science is real to you? Real science such as XX is Female and XY is Male? That kind of science? Or is that not real science?”

I don’t get it either. People can be whatever gender they want, or no gender or several genders at the same time. Why can’t they be whatever race they want to be? I don’t understand the rules, I guess.

I believe that is the point of the article. The answer is a resounding “YES!”

She hates Whites and therefore herself. She got her professor job because the university thought she was Black and hated Whites. She did not commit a crime.
What about kamala harris, who identifies as Black? Is that OK? She is not Afro-American. harris gets worshipped, and Krug is condemned.
I resent the fact that non-Whites get certain privileges. There should NO privileges based on race. Affirmative action, racial set-asides and race-based preferences are immoral and illegal.
Lizzie Warren must be her hero. Same for Rachel Dolezal and Shaun King. This makes you wonder, how many more people like this are out there?

Academia and media revile anything “white” and worship anything “non-white” 24/7 with feeling. Advertisements and images on corporate websites would give an outsider to believe that all people in America are happy, middle or upper class black people. Universities and companies have all sorts of set asides to buy racial absolution. Many Leftists are self-haters, and want to be what they are not.
Not surprising. A "student" who would take such courses would naturally hate whites.

Don’t forget that anyone who takes courses like that, will need to find a job TEACHING, or else a job that includes expertise in the line, “would you like fries with that,” while struggling to cover the tens of thousands of loan dollars to cover a useless degree, and a genuine hatred for all things American...

Not kidding-I see it as one of their weapons, they change the language and symbology to suit their needs, often without warning, and usually for specific purposes.
For example, the left changes what is acceptable to describe someone with melanin content from Negro, to Black, to African American, back to Black. It is something they use as an ideological cudgel to keep people off balance and constantly trying to “keep up” and not offend.
Homosexual, to Gay, to what? 78 different species of parrot with the entire LGBQTZXN whatever.
Homosexual is a completely descriptive and reasonable term in the same way Heterosexual is. But they don’t want people to use the term because they don’t like it.
Call it what you will, it does not change the underlying thing, it is only changing the name, and to them, that has value.
To me, it doesn’t.
Race means everything to universities. Merit is only relevant on athletic teams.

When she ran for US Senate from NY while speaking to a group of Orthodox Jews in Monsey she condescendingly pulled the old “you know I recently found out I have Jewish ancestry in my family” routine.
