Joe Biden has a secret weapon in his bid for the presidency: He is the first Democratic nominee in 36 years without a degree from an Ivy League university.
This is a potential strength. One of the sources of Donald Trump’s political appeal has been his ability to tap into resentment against meritocratic elites. By the time of Mr. Trump’s election, the Democratic Party had become a party of technocratic liberalism more congenial to the professional classes than to the blue-collar and middle-class voters who once constituted its base. In 2016, two-thirds of whites without a college degree voted for Mr. Trump, while Hillary Clinton won more than 70 percent of voters with advanced degrees.
Being untainted by the Ivy League credentials of his predecessors may enable Mr. Biden to connect more readily with the blue-collar workers the Democratic Party has struggled to attract in recent years. More important, this aspect of his candidacy should prompt us to reconsider the meritocratic political project that has come to define contemporary liberalism.
At the heart of this project are two ideas: First, in a global, technological age, higher education is the key to upward mobility, material success and social esteem. Second, if everyone has an equal chance to rise, those who land on top deserve the rewards their talents bring.
This way of thinking is so familiar that it seems to define the American dream. But it has come to dominate our politics only in recent decades. And despite its inspiring promise of success based on merit, it has a dark side.
Building a politics around the idea that a college degree is a precondition for dignified work and social esteem has a corrosive effect on democratic life.

I don't think so. As for Biden's education, he graduated at the bottom of his class, and it shows. He is slow and it is not a recent thing. Biden doesn't know much about anything. He has an intelligence problem, a knowledge problem, a critical thinking problem and a values problem.
I know plenty of blue-collar guys that are bright and they are educated for their vocation and their avocations whether it be wood working, fly fishing, hunting, etc. Joe Biden comes off like an idiot to them. Any man that has the least bit of knowledge about guns and has heard Biden's drivel about guns in the past thinks Biden is clueless. If someone works in coal or shale, they know Biden is an idiot. Plenty of those guys in PA. I know a guy who welds pipelines here in PA for natural gas. He has tons of certifications for his job, he's hard working, and makes tons of money. He has no interest in the multiple hits that he could take if Biden is elected. No fracking and higher taxes. Both based on the supreme knowledge that Biden possesses on energy and the economy.
This piece of schiff author doesn't have a clue on how people think outside his leftist bubble. He's just like Biden.
Every now and then some leftist brings this up and the rest of them blissfully ignore it, totally confident that they are inherently superior to the ‘deplorables’. They gleefully mock and denigrate those they consider to be lesser, and when they lose they wonder aloud why the little people ‘vote against their best interests’. Well, they might not have the best education, but they know when someone hates them and that’s who they vote against.

Neither of those things is true.
Most of the "uneducated" people are actually quite educated they just did not bother to spend buco bucks to get a piece of paper saying they were educated. They figured that they had better things to spend their money on.
Sometimes I think educations you less capable.
In any sort of dangerous situation, Who would you want on your team - an over-educated barista or a redneck?
