Former US Representative Trey Gowdy was on Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo this Labor Day weekend. Gowdy had this to say about the John Durham investigation that has been going on for the past year looking into criminal activities in the Russia collusion scandal. The crimes being looked into are those by the FBI and DOJ holdovers from the Obama administration.

Clinesmith was not indicted. The headine is false on its face. There is no evidence that Barr, Durham or any prosecutor is the entire country is providing evidence to a Grand Jury. All these articles of speculation are false. Not a single reporter or congressional member has provided information contrary to my statement. Not one. Nothing is happening that can make any assumption of criminal proceedings true. Nothing.

Consistent with swamp ethics - when the scandal touches on swamp critters, one scapegoat is sufficient. When the scandal involves non-swamp critters, maximum collateral damage is mandatory.
Yes. This is how the deep state rolls for dems. Living in New Jersey I lived through a period where several prominent politicians (Governor, US Senator, congressmen) were all investigated by the feds and they had them dead to rights. All of them resigned and the investigations disappeared immediately. As if being out of power was punishment enough.
That's how the deep state views it. They protect their own, they tell them 'if you become an embarrassment or threaten our power all you need to do is get out of the news, resign and you'll be taken care of. Fight back and extend our embarrassment and we'll crush you but disappear from power and all will be forgotten.'
All they needed was one symbolic scalp so they picked the lowest level flunky and eventually will let him off with a slap on the wrist, you watch.
