When the Berlin Wall went up on August 13, 1961, the city wasnt ready to be cut in half. The worst part about the forced splitting of the city was the fact that no one from East Berlin was allowed to cross over to West Berlin and vice versa. As chaos ensued this boy found himself on the wrong side of the wall. Rather than doom a child to a life without his family, this unknown soldier took his career into his own hands and helped the boy across the wall (at this point it was a simple barbed wire fence).
The soldier was caught after saving the boy, and while its believed that he was removed from his post no one really knows what happened to him.
Mick after this picture...realized he was not gay. Just wasn’t gonna pan out.
