ESPN sports commentator Stephen A. Smith blasted the Brooklyn Nets hiring of Steve Nash as their head coach, calling the move a sign of “white privilege.”
Smith prefaced his comments on white privilege noting that Nash has a lot of experience on the court, is extremely intelligent, is universally liked, is a leader, and deserves this opportunity. But then Smith segues to the claim that because Nash is white, he doesn’t deserve it as much as black candidates might.

I don’t know about you, but I always listen to everything Stephen A. Smith says. He’s brilliant, I mean a true scholar. There really isn’t a more articulate person in America. He is a master of the American language. He is so great that he should be on CNN, MSNBC in addition to ESPN. (I won’t post this without a disclaimer. It’s called sarcasm. I resort to it when when my actual thoughts will upset more sensitive Freepers.)
Why don’t they just ban all non-black players from the NBA? Let’s see how well they do with all black players, coaches, staff, media and ... fans.
