I need a good alternative to Kingsford.
Suggestions?
Cowboy Charcoal. Burns longer, hotter and is less expensive (use less charcoal too).
Kingsford has been a rip-off anymore. Weight getting less, price going up...and fillers I've noticed.

Wallace, 26, confirmed his deal with Kingsford in a social media post on Wednesday. The deal’s financial terms and the length of the partnership were not disclosed.

Royal Oak is not just _an_ alternative to Kingsford, it is superior. It has less filler such as coal dust.
Lump charcoal...just about any brand, supplemented with mesquite for taste.
Briquets are made out of all kinds of scrap wood and fillers.
Nasty stuff.
Light a fire to that Black charcoal and you can end up with white ash.
VANTAblack has got it beat.
Don’t use briquettes. They often have binders and other yucky stuff. Find a good quality HARDWOOD lump charcoal.
Try a local farm/home/ranch/hardware store. They often have great off brand products. (In my area that is Atwood’s, Orchelin’s and Tractor Supply.)

Royal Oak. I never liked Kingsford in the first place. It burns hotter longer because they use anthracite (coal) as a binder. It makes food taste bad IMHO. Gives it a petroleum taste.
That said I don’t use briquets hardly ever. Real hardwood charcoal does so much better. It burns hotter, produces less ash and has vastly superior flavor to any briquets I have found. It burns faster so you have to control the burn better but that is what a smoker is for. Control the air intake for longer cooks and let her rip for grilling steaks or damp a bit for chicken or other things you want to cook through.
If you are just grilling and not smoking don’t worry about the wood type as long as it’s hardwood.

For a guy that’s never Won a CUP Race, they sure are throwing a lot of $$$ at this 100% unaccomplished Non-Winner of a NASCAR CUP RACE! Further, he not only drove a BLM Sponsored car, he supports ALL facets of the Disease that is BLM.Also, no matter how much money they throw at him, he will NOT be capable of Winning a race amongst the Big Boys in Cup in his lifetime.

A pizza place I used to haunt had a dessert pie. Pre-baked crust smeared in sweetened cream cheese topped with blueberries, strawberries and kiwi. Mighty tasty.
