“If we continue to be a happy people, that happiness must be assured by the enacting and executing of reasonable and wise laws, expressed in the plainest language, and by establishing such modes of education as tend to inculcate in the minds of youth, the feelings and habits of ‘piety, religion and morality,’ and to lead them to the knowledge and love of those truly Republican principles upon which our civil institutions are founded.”

Hey, not only that, I've never been jailed for stuff I didn't actually do, that seems so unfair. Obviously, part of white privilege is not being made to serve time for crimes committed by others. /sarc

“The Democrats and their most influential new constituents will continue their push, until every freedom is violated.”

What ‘freedom’ is violated by marijuana legalization?

‘John Adams: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”’

No Founding Father ever said laws could make or keep a people moral.

“Trump should simply have it removed as a DEA CSA Schedule 1 drug - which is really overkill. Let the states deal with it as they see fit.”

Amen! He could steal a march on the Rats and further cement his constitutionalist bona fides.

In the 2016 campaign Trump said marijuana was an issue for the states - and as President he’s done nothing to crack down on legalizing states. So sad for you.

Yet you only want pot legalized, but you’re ok with big government control of crack and heroin.

As a conservative I'm mistrustful of drastic changes such as legalizing all drugs at once; I say relegalize the least harmful and most popular drug first (actually second - the relegalization of alcohol came first) and see what lessons there are to be learned.

What's wrong with MI and what does it have to do with their legalization of marijuana?
