No, the crime was in WI.

What COULD get the kid in trouble is that he is 17, crossing state lines with a firearm.

He is hoping he did not text anything stupid to his buddies on the way there. I can see a kid texting something like, “Gonna go get some....”

Too many kids playing Call of Duty.

There’s a video of every attack against him, showing the aggressor attacking him and getting shot as a result. Each one involved deadly force (first guy with a molotov cocktail and a pipe, second guy with a skateboard, third guy had a pistol).

I was looking at the videos last night. He was clearly running away and was chased down, shooting his attackers to defend himself. No way was it intentional homicide, he wanted to preserve his own life while being attacked. That rifle potentially saved his life.

“””I would be rejected as a juror from the start.””””

I have been on a few Minneapolistan juries. I had to be careful when they asked my opinion on a few subjects.

Some questions that probably dont mean alot but I am curious anyway....

1) How did he get separated from the rest of the 'militia' such that he was chased into that parking lot where he had to fire that first shot in defense?

2) At 17, where is his father/mother and and whats he doing out there in the riot? I get they were supposed to be defending stores and property, but isnt that an adults job? Having said that, from what little I've seen, he was defending himself from a mob attack. Good riddance to the attackers.

Could be said if the thugs actually got his gun, it’s likely he’d be dead and the narrative would be different with the left defending the thugs action.

This WILL escalate. As the mobs of democrat voters move into the ‘burbs, residents left without police assistance will absolutely fire into the front of the invading horde in an effort to dissuade them from advancing. There will be more than one sharpshooter and it will be coordinated. It may take a planned effort from citizens to target the complicit elected officials who are permitting the violence. Inevitably, the head of the snake must be sacrificed to preserve the prey.

Charged as an adult.

Running around with an AR15, in another state, in the middle the night at 17.

Think about that. Because clearly, he wasn’t. He is toast. He will go to jail for something.

It probably is wise not to be out on the streets when rioting is going on, and less wise to carry a long fire arm openly.

You're absolutely right, even legally which due to his age he wasn't. You might note my post 100. And then there's the problem of defending the weapon. Whether it's open or legally concealed.

I just watched what I think is the entire video. The initial shots on camera appeared to be self-defense to me. However, prior to that you can hear guys in the crowd asking “What did he do?” with an answer “He shot someone”. Also there appeared to be several follow-up shots well after those assaulting him cleared out. It looked like he fired a few random shots as he was walking away and somebody in the distance fired some as well. But they may have all come (or not come) from him....too hard to tell.

I don’t know if what we see on video is what is warranting the entirety of the charges or if he is also being charged for something that happened prior to that. Also, I wonder if those follow up shots might also comprise some charges.

If he committed a felony PRIOR to being assaulted (by shooting somebody NOT in self-defense), then I’d guess self-defense would be thrown out the window as the rioters would have been trying to subdue a shooter rather than an innocent bystander being assaulted by rioters.

I found it interesting that he appeared to be trying to turn himself in at the end, but the cops appear to have gone right by him. The gun wasn’t exactly hidden. But I’d conclude that the cops’ first priority was getting to the injured.

I suppose I’ll wait until more of the facts come out here. Just trying to look at this as objectively as possible.

I don’t think a grand jury will indict him after seeing the video and still photos.

From the article:

Rittenhouse, 17, was arrested in Illinois and faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide, according to Lake County, Illinois Clerk of Courts public records.

So far, he is labeled a “fugitive from justice” in the complaint, which states that the teenager “fled the state of Wisconsin with intent to avoid prosecution for that offense.” He’s been assigned a public defender and is scheduled to appear at an extradition hearing on Aug. 28, according to court records.

I’m not convinced either way on that topic.

I’m not sure who they were talking about, but one of these
terrorists was known to have been seen at other locations
of extreme violence. They have him on video.

For that matter, they may have been talking about the shooter
too, but I didn’t get that impression when I read the report.

This guy with the pistol was on top of the shooter. I’m
not sure what his goal was. Didn’t look good to me.

He swarmed right in after being ordered by others to do so.

Had he fired his weapon prior to that? If not, good luck getting any charge at all to stick.

Contributing to a confrontation could be a problem. Also, at 17 he was carrying illegally. Might note my post 100. Hope he gets through this without extensive damage.
