A Russian major-general was killed in Syria last week, but the important incident has not yet led to escalation or repercussions. According to reports Russian Maj.-Gen. Vyacheslav Gladkikh was killed along with the commander of the local National Defense Forces (NDF) during a patrol. A roadside bomb killed him, according to footage posted online and reports at Rudaw, Al-Monitor and other channels. This is what is known about the incident. On August 18, the Russian military leader was traveling in Syrias Deir Ezzor province, apparently on the western side of the Euphrates River, when an improvised explosive device exploded. Rudaw, a Kurdish news network, said two Russian servicemen were also injured. Russian media says the incident took place near an oil field called At-Taym but it wasnt clear where this was located.

Whoo boy. Whoever did this might as well just kill themselves and get it over with.
Finally, we have solid evidence for a Russian conspiracy. Trump’s fault.
Looks like a General.
Acts like a General.
Wondering on his policy on confused trans men serving in the Russian military...
Sounds like this is a big loss for the Russians. Any general that goes out on patrol and reconiters for himself is a true military leader. Those that sit in guarded bunkers do not inspire and usually do not succeed.
As a digression, which branch of the Russian armed forces wears grey dress uniforms?
Do the Russians really think they are protecting the homeland from jihad by bloodletting in this shithole? GTFO!
Out on patrol with the troops? At least the guy was not a desk-warrior.
That’s army parade grey.
“Whoo boy. Whoever did this might as well just kill themselves and get it over with.”
And their extended families.
And neighbors.
And casual acquaintances.
Look a REAL general. Our generals wouldnt dare go on a foot patrol but then again we have an army of gays and trannies.
No reason for us to get involved.
Thank you.
our all volunteer Army can hold its own.

Minefield 'oopsie' or friendly fire.
The one thing that stands out as not new or different with respect to the fighting in Syria is the complexity of just who is fighting whom, who is fighting with whom, whom exactly are they against, were they against them yesterday and will they be for or against them tomorrow.
Having destabilized and deconstructed Syrian society loyalties can easily be bought, though there is no telling if that buys a long term ally or just a temporary friend of convenience.
Whatever happens, you can bet that the response will be wildly and grossly indiscriminate and insanely disproportional.
As it should be in a war.
Gosh, nineteen posts and no reference to Gilbert and Sullivan. Kids these days, they don’t know nuttin’.
