In the seeming never-ending riots portrayed as “peaceful protests” by the Progressive left, including most of the Media, there are an increasing number of drivers/passengers involved in vehicle encounters with agitators/protestors.
There are numerous responses on Internet forums about how to handle a situation where a person or persons in a vehicle encounter, often unexpectedly, agitators/protestors who are aggressively blocking a public right of way.
Many of these responses are very dangerous. It seems to be precisely what is desired by the Progressive left, such as Antifa and BLM, their organizers, handlers, and political theorists.
This article explains some of the dynamics observed from the reporting of these events, and a framework of how to respond with the least risk to the driver/passenger(s) involved.
The design of many of these events is to deliberately block public right-of-ways, to inconvenience large numbers of the public, and to show the public the participants can break the law with impunity.
In nearly all of these events, the local government, which may include the local prosecutor, mayor, and or city council, are complicit, sympathetic, or compromised on the side of those organizing the event and the violence.
Those who create these events, or to be charitable, hi-jack them and take advantage of them, want confrontation, violence, destruction, and death. They want to frame the confrontation, violence, destruction, and death as being caused by “racists and or white supremacists”, which is newspeak for enemies of the party, with “the party” being the Progressive far-left as exemplified by the furthest left thinkers, planners and organizers.

If they’re arrested, they can just come back the next day. Have their been any estimates of how many people involved in the violence (not counting the useful idiots who are providing cover).

If somebody pulls a gun in front of my vehicle, as in the photo attached to the article, I’m going head down and hammer down. Period. I’m not going to wait to be shot.
In cases where guns are not seen, I’ll drive forward at 5mph. This gives any roadblockers the choice to walk out of the way, or not. Their choice. No human can stop a car moving even at 5hp.
If a window is broken, I’ll take it as a warning that commercial fireworks (incendiary grenade inside a vehicle) or a molotov cocktail is coming in. So if a window is breached, I’m going head down and hammer down.
If I see a gun, hammer down.
Otherwise, see #6.
Always keep hearing protection in your vehicle, too. Preferably the electronic kind. Ear plugs for any passengers.

IMHO, unless your car is physically unable to move (crashed, trapped by blocking vehicles etc), it’s a much better weapon than a pistol fired out of or through a window. Head down, hammer down, your vehicle/weapon also gets you out of the ambush. Both hands on the wheel, duck, accelerate. Unless your vehicle is pinned and unable to move.

It’s pretty sad that we have to talk about and prepare for these things, though.
But, this is where the left has taken us.
They want us all enslaved or dead.
We must act accordingly.
Tips for moving a vehicle blocking the path?

1. I never ever stop (at a red light or anywhere) nearer than 15 feet from the vehicle in front. This allows me to accelerate out even if the timid fool in front is afraid to move.
2. If I see even a hint of a protest, I get in the inside lane, so I’m not trapped along the curb side by vehicles on my left.
3. If anybody stands in front of my vehicle, I’m going to move forward at 5mph. At 5mph or 35, a human cannot stop or even slow a vehicle. Its many horsepower vs one human power. No contest. Car wins. At 5mph, you are demonstrating (to a later hypothetical court) that your intention was not to run anybody down. They can simply move out of the way, or not.
4. After the Portland beat down, I have a reasonable fear of death or grave bodily injury if I’m pulled from my vehicle by an angry mob. I’m not stopping. I’ll keep a steady 5 mph forward speed.
5. If I see a gun brandished, or one of my windows is breached, I’m going hammer down, and to hell with anybody in front of me. “Fear for my life.”
6. I will not pull my own gun as long as my vehicle is moving. It’s just a better weapon than a pistol, and the vehicle gets you clear of the danger zone, a pistol does not.
7. I will only pull my pistol if my vehicle is physically stopped, (and I don’t mean by idiots standing in front of it.)
Bingo.
And, hearing protection also helps when the mob decides to toss explosives nearby.
I’d pit maneuver another vehicle or pull any other move required to clear the area. There are lots of videos on the best ways to do this. It’s a little too complex to describe in detail here. Better is to get to the inside lane, so the (empty) oncoming lane gives you an escape route.
At 5mph you are not “intentionally running anybody down.” They can easily get out of the way, it’s their choice.
But as soon as I see a gun or a window is broken, I’m accelerating out at speed. I’m not waiting to be shot or have an incendiary thrown in through the busted out window.
My friend has a traffic app on his phone to avoid traffic jams.
It should also be useful to avoid roadblocks.

Seen a few. I’ll watch some more. Did a J turn the other day just for fun. Mrs L was only moderately amused.

That’s our plan, too. We both always travel armed now. And we both have the same gun with spare magazines. No confusion about what works with which piece.
