White Long Island couple arrested for harassing black neighbor

A white couple on Long Island was arrested for allegedly harassing their black neighbor by repeatedly shooting pellets across her yard and leaving feces on her lawn, officials announced Monday.

John McEneaney, 57, and his 53-year-old girlfriend, Mindy Canarick, are accused of carrying out the attacks on neighbor Jennifer McLeggan from October 2017 — when she moved into her Valley Stream home — until last month, according to Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas.

McLeggan, a 39-year-old single mother of a 2-year-old daughter, brought attention to the alleged harassment last month by listing the allegations on a handwritten sign attached to her door and posted on Instagram.

The mother claimed she was targeted because of her race, but Singas said her office’s investigation “did not find evidence to support a hate crime charge.

”The probe did, however, find “a pattern of harassing conduct against Ms. McLeggan,” the DA said.

My Caucasian niece taught in a predominantly black Baltimore school for over 3 years. She was continually harassed by her “peers” and denigrated daily. Finally got a job with a company providing on-line curriculum programs. Her complaints fell on deaf ears because her superiors were part of the majority. Life is not fair.

As i understand it, this wasnt the first time the white neighbors did this. They harassed the previous tenants of that same property too. (I do not know the race of the previous tenants)

Wow. In that case, it sounds like the couple might just be fornicating crazy. Do they have something against renters or something? Glad I live many miles from any city, where neighbors are way more spread-out from each others.

My relatives lived on Long Island and had a cross burned on their front yard. Yes, this was three decades ago, but this was in a nice democrat neighborhood. Liberals all.

I have found that most white GOP that I have met, have mixed race families unlike the lily white democrats who talk a good game but are incredibly racist behind their doors.

Anti-black harassment isn’t something I take at face value.
Too many fraudulent claims of this nature and given these days, and numerous fake hate crime allegations, where’s the proof?

A court finding in favor of racially-based charges just because, well, it has to be true since it is race-based.

It's kinda hard to believe. I didn't know that there were any white people left in Valley Stream. Here's a view of the Black Friday Stampede at the Walmart in Valley Stream in 2008. Killed an employee, smashed through the windows and crushed him to death.

At this particular moment, it sounds to me like something small and innocuous that escalated in a big way.

Yes, it could be retaliation (in their warped minds) for some perceived slight. That's been my experience/observation, whenever neighbors argue.

Or, this couple could simply be the neighbors from hell. If they harassed the previous neighbor, then they might be harassing other neighbors, too. Sometimes one family will terrorize an entire neighborhood.

Google search on “psychopath neighbor” netted almost a million hits. Apparently there really are psychopaths out there. No, seriously, actual psychopaths who manage to make life hell for other people. Don’t believe me? You probably are one.

Amazon has over 3000 books listed on a search of “psychopath”. I scrolled through 10 pages and didn’t find one book aimed at medical personnel in a therapeutic or hospital setting. They were ALL targeting you and me, brother, about how to cope with psychopaths in everyday life - employees, bosses, neighbors, family members. Psychopaths have a way of not looking at evidence 3 inches from their face.

This is no BS. This is the village of Valley Stream, not the town of No. VALLEY Stream. Started going black over 30 yrs ago. My fiancee and his family lived a few doors down from them. I was on that block every day for 4 years. The father in his 80s moved there in 1964.

There are videos of the white woman on the internet selling drugs in her driveway. The son and girlfriend are white trash. The black woman is hard working registered nurse. Surprised it took this long to arrest them. But Valley Stream doesn’t have their own police force.

If what she says on her door is true, she’s got video evidence of being harassed, though, and even got a judgement against them. That’s a bit different than the typical hoaxer who just makes claims with little evidence.

There is a (white) guy in my parents’ neighborhood who had some kind of run in with the police years ago at the public library and attaches a lengthy manifesto about how he believes his civil rights were violated to his car with magnets when it is parked on the street. People just say, “Yeah, that’s Crazy Phil”. It truly takes all kinds.

No evidence was found of this being racially motivated though. That’s the thing. Did the harassment occur? As near as we can tell, some harassment did. Because of race? Not buying that yet until it gets proven or the Gofundme gets set up, one of the two.
