The Army is launching an investigation into the two uniformed personnel who were shown during the Democratic National Convention, the service said Wednesday.
During the second night of the convention, the soldiers appeared next to delegates from American Samoa during the state roll call, prompting questions about whether they violated military rules. The Department of Defense (DOD) forbids service members from appearing in uniform at political events.
The Army announced it will investigate the two service members, who are assigned to the 9th Mission Support Command, Army spokesperson Lt. Col. Emanuel Ortiz confirmed to The Hill.
"Wearing a uniform to a partisan political event like this is prohibited," he said in a statement. "The Army follows the Department of Defense's longstanding and well-defined policy regarding political campaigns and elections to avoid the perception of DOD sponsorship, approval or endorsement of any political candidate, campaign or cause."
A Democratic convention official told The Hill earlier Wednesday that the service members appearance in uniform was an oversight.

The 2 in uniform are totally responsible and need to be punished.
There is no liability on the part of the DNC.
Paid actors....
Gator, I was a battery commander at Fort Bliss in 1984. We had plenty of reminders to avoid political gatherings while in uniform. It was never an issue, as Reagan trounced Mondale.
We all know this is not an oversight, but the communists trying to make it look like the military is on their side which is not the truth. Every election the commies put stickers, carry signs saying vets for who ever , but they are not vets at all, but lying scum
Looking for their Forrest Gump moment?
It’s been a long time since I was active Army, but any soldier should know this is a no-no.
What about Minnesota?...
:)
...my 28-year military service began in the early 1960s; even back then, we were told that participation in ANY political even while in uniform was strictly prohibited...! even as an E-1 Seaman Recruits we knew this sort of behavior was verboten. Today I doubt that this prohibition is even discussed within today’s US military...hell; it’s bad enough when sworn police officers kneel at BLM protests (sorry; riots...) shameful, all of it...(unless you are of the African persuasion, apparently....)
“The ends justify the means.”
I was never military and I knew that.
I was told in 2001, but 19 years seems like a different world to me.
Oh, I guarantee you they damn well knew better. This was a deliberate violation. Simply no way it was accidental.
Democrats have absolutely no respect for anything.
My hero a fella nicknamed B-1 Bob Dornan
The first politician to lose his seat due to illegal aliens voting and, as you know, one of the most conservative congressmen at that time.
That wouldn't happen at the CommiecRAT convention as they don't honor anything American.
They know that bad things don't happen to democrats in government. No fear or concern there, no need for it.
Bliss is El Paso, right?
Stayed overnight in the armory once when we were going to train at White Sands...
Triggered a thought...
Wonder how the offshore military votes will be handled this year. How many will not make it home?
That name seems familiar, for some reason..
Oh. Oversight on the part of the DNC. No
Each military member is aware of the law under UCMJ. This has nothing to do with the DNC. Either these two characters get reprimanded by their CO and above or they dont. If they dont it is because Mattis, by speaking out against the CIC has abolished that rule. I have heard Marines say that Mattis did so as a private citizen Thames say screw trump. There you go.
That shows the seditious undermining of order and troop morale
