My most memorable experience of this was with the Brazilian subsidiary of a company I worked for. The chief administrative assistant had a relationship with each of the 3 consecutive General Managers she worked for.
In that case, it wasnt so much about promotion, as job security.
It’s probably true in a way. I learned how to read stats like this when I was in high school back in ‘71. I was seeing these crazy high high school dropout rates, yet VERY few dropped out when I was in high school. Now that I think about it, the number in my school of a class of several hundred was zero.
But then I discovered there were some high schools where half (or more) never finished. Suddenly it made sense. If you are in a room where half the men are five feet tall, and the other half are 6 feet tall, the average is 5.5, even though there isn’t a man in the room that is that hight.
i.e. there are probably a lot of businesses where this is uber-common and others where it is extremely rare. I’m thinking it happens a lot in strip clubs, restaurants and bars...
I’ve been on the receiving end of “unwelcome advances” from superiors, while employed in the legal profession. Men who know the law better than most.
Best thing to do is find another place to work — while you’re still on civil terms with the dog.
(No offense to real dogs intended.)
"You haven't slept with him yet?"
"Honey, we're taking you right back to the office."
"Go rock his world, girl!"
I worked in Big Corporate for 23 years - I believe them. That 63% of the 15% for whom it did not work are the ones filing all of the #MeToo lawsuits. They intend to get the cash, one way or another.
Men who hand out promotions/jobs based on who will have sex with them are the ones in the wrong.
Everybody does it. Sounds like the DNC is nervous about Willie’s Ho.
We need to pronounce her name correctly so we dont offend.
Camel a Whoreiss.
Yup, women don’t like homewreckers
It happened MANY times In my career ughlies and the bosses were usually fat insecure troubled marriage husbands
As a sidenote one of the wives hit on me at a party one time when the two of us were alone in the hostess game room
It was an extremely uncomfortable feeling
In college women that showed their tits and flirted with the professors got benefits of grades or an easy academic route.
Apparently Kamala’s body was the only currency she had to “ Pay to play”
The survey is of women at director level or above.
People who work their way up to that level tend to be the most ambitious of the ambitious.
15% is 1 in 6. A huge number when you think about it.
That 15% was also the women that ADMITTED it. I’m guessing the real number was higher.
It’s a 10 year old article. Published in them middle of the Obama era.
Note, it said 15% of female executives ADMITTED it. My guess is the number is higher.
The important takeaway, is people hate women who do this.
I didn’t read the article but I’m guessing that about 100% of the spouses of those involved in the office fling disapproved.
It's happened just a few times in my company that I am aware of and in each instance, the manager was unceremoniously relieved of his position and walked out the door. We have over 10,000 employees nationwide so even if there were others I am not aware of, I see no way we get anywhere near the 15% cited here. And I'm talking a 30 year period!
At least in my company, this is a rare event. But then again, I work for a button-down conservative outfit with a professional and highly involved HR operation. I guess if I worked for a Hollywood studio or was in politics, the percentages would be much higher.
