SCREVEN CO., GA (WSPA) – The Georgia State Bureau of Investigation has arrested a state trooper as a result of a deadly officer-involved shooting in Screven County.
According to the GBI, a Georgia State Patrol trooper attempted to stop a car for a traffic-related offense on Stoney Pond Road.
When the car refused to stop, the trooper chased the car briefly down several county road, the GBI said.
Investigators said the trooper was able to use a Precision Intervention Technique (PIT) maneuver which caused the car to stop in a ditch.
The GBI said the trooper fired one shot, killing 60-year-old Julian Edward Roosevelt Lewis.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigator said 27-year-old Jacob Gordon Thompson is charged with felony murder and aggravated assault.
Thompson has been fired from the Department of Public Safety, Georgia State Patrol.
Thompson will be booked into the Screven County Jail.
The technique involves using the front end of the cop car to bump the rear end of the perps car, to force it to swerve. White cop, black perp, so....

Yeah, but I think there’s more to it. Probably the guy had a warrant on him and may have been armed or even tired to take a shot. This story really tells you nothing,
Seems when we first read these stories that the officer must be guilty but the story is in the details. I originally thought Floyd officer Chauvin was guilty of murder. Having seen the whole film, I see him as guilty only of bad optics. He did not kill Floyd. Fentanyl did.
I’m sure there’s plenty more. People need to learn that felony stops are no joke. You can turn the smallest infraction into a big deal if you run.
The recently released body cam of George Floyd sitting in the driver’s seat and REFUSING MULTIPLE COMMANDS to put BOTH hands on the steering wheel. He put his left hand on the wheel, but kept his right hand down to his side. That’s a sure “tell” to LEOs that the right (hidden) hand is going for or holding a weapon.
Maybe that is what transpired here as well. As others said, not enough info.
Had an incident where the cops were involved with a low speed pursuit with a guy until he pulled into a parking lot with a motorcycle cop right behind him. The motorcycle cop parked within a couple of inches of the guys rear bumper. When the perp stopped his car it bumped into the parking bumper and bounced back that couple of inches which caused the motorcycle to rock back.
The cop got off the bike unharmed, stood behind the car and fired several shots that struck the left rear roof pillar. Since that was ineffective, he calmly walked to the drivers side of the car and emptied hi pistol into the driver like it was no big deal.
His excuse was the guy was trying to back over him and he feared for his safety

This alone tells me why the young trooper has been arrested and charged for murder.
I would need to see the facts in that case. Have a link?
Head of the GBI is Vic Reynolds. Former Police Officer. Former Cobb County District Attorney.
Known him for several decades.
If Vic is going after the police officer, I have no doubt he is a rogue cop.
And if no weapon was found on the dead guy?

Doesn’t matter. The question, at that point, would be why did he run from the police.

I agree. I did a search for more details, and all I found was the Trooper was white, and the victim was black. Even on the “Civil Rights Leaders Call for Investigation” stories, there were no further details.
Its been several years so i need to remember my search terms
