1200 dollars each for mom and dad. 500 for each child. Thus, a family of 4 = 3400 dollars.

“I think after this the US will have to write off some debt.”

I expect before this is all over that the US will have fully embraced “Modern Monetary Theory” as operative national policy.

Oh great. Another check I will get 0% of and have to pay for it with my taxes. Love it. Grrrrrr.

Yeah, the stimulus criteria was highly flawed. If the stimulus was supposed to stimulate the economy, why not give everyone who filed taxes a check?

If you're not doing that, then why should taxpayers like my wife and I, who are both retired and have an income stream that didn't disappear with the lockdowns, also get a check? I'm sure there is some rationale about some of those on SS only who are barely meeting their living expenses. Or some such B.S.

[I think after this the US will have to write off some debt.]

The classic way of paying for things like this is inflation. No special measures needed. Basically the same thing that’s been happening since the founding of the Republic (and of every regime, past, present and undoubtedly future in the existence of mankind). As long as the fiscal measures are moderate, the only effect we’ll see is a slight bump in prices going forward on top of the usual increase.

If Charlotte Bronte is to be regarded as an authority on the prevailing wages of her era, there was a time when £20 was a respectable annual income for a governess who was provided room and board. Today, £20 is less than 3 hours of the British minimum wage. The difference is just under 200 years of inflation.

Don’t care. If this wins trump the election then it’s worth it. Why should the poor get all the tax money? We’re screwed anyway. I’d rather everyone in middle class benefit for once.

My father in law parents children and grandchildren all got checks last time. Change to their incomes during the pandemic ? zero. DH and I got nothing. He retire in december and we have all our retirement $ invested - took a big hit and got nothing. Had to live off savings for a while to avoid taking money out of retirement fund when it was at it lowest. Fortunately we planned ahead and could do so. Point being we were the only ones in the family that took a bit and the only ones that got nothing.
