Elon Musk: ‘China Rocks,’ America Is Full of ‘Complacency and Entitlement’

Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk stated in a recent interview that people in the United States are “entitled” and “complacent” while Chinese citizens are “smart” and “hard-working people.”

CNBC reports that in a recent interview with Automotive News’ “Daily Drive” podcast, Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk complained of the “entitled” and “complacent” character of U.S. citizens while praising the “smart” and “hard-working” people of China. This is far from the first time that Musk has cozied up to communist China.

Musk criticized New York and California, states that have both gone to extreme lengths to support Musk’s businesses with tax breaks, regulatory credits, and regular government help. Breitbart News has reported extensively on the government subsidies that Musk and his companies have taken advantage of.

Jason Stein, the publisher of Automotive News who conducted the interview with Musk, asked him “How about China as an EV strategy leader in the world?” to which Musk replied: “China rocks in my opinion. The energy in China is great. People there – there’s like a lot of smart, hard-working people. And they’re really — they’re not entitled, they’re not complacent, whereas I see in the United States increasingly much more complacency and entitlement especially in places like the Bay Area, and L.A. and New York.”

This is a clickbait article using out of context quotes. Recently, Musk has openly criticized Marx on Twitter and done battle with local liberal government in California.

Tesla Headquarters: Palo Alto, CA
SpaceX Headquarters: Hawthorne, CA
Hyperloop Headquarters: Los Angeles, CA

Why?

...

That’s where the talent is, and his strategy has worked.

Indeed, he’s a brilliant self-made liberal-hating billionaire but that’s to be bashed by many on FR today.

He’s talking about Millenials in California and NY and other leftist locals.

He said, "I see in the United States increasingly much more complacency and entitlement especially in places like the Bay Area, and L.A. and New York.”

He painted with a broad brush. He didn't specify an age group. I live in California and work hard for my paycheck, as I have done my entire life. I don't appreciate this little pr***ks comments one bit, especially as he's getting government handouts paid for by people like me. Drop dead, Elon.

I actually agree with the statement if you parse it in a certain way.

Well, the cities he sited as examples are liberal 'elite' and run by democrats.

What planet did Musk send you to for the last 20 years?

Apple (and MS, btw, and maybe even Amazon) are about 10 times ahead of Tesla in market value. So, it's going to be about another 10 years before Tesla reaches those companies' market value, but by then, those companies will have increased their values too.

BTW, no car company is worth what Tesla is valued at, and it's in huge bubble territory.

“He said, “I see in the United States increasingly much more complacency and entitlement especially in places like the Bay Area, and L.A. and New York.”

How can you possibly disagree with this given everything this country is currently going through in those cities? You have to be willfully blind and totally self-absorbed not to understand these truths.
The fact is, too many Americans are self-absorbed, it’s all about me and my personal issues, and, if you’re not “sensitive” to my issues you are a monster and I hate you!!!
Musk needs to close down every single operation he has on the left coast and in the North Central and NE Corridor and simply relocate to the American South ALL operations.
Problem Solved.

People only read the headlines. And Tesla is growing at fantastic rates. As above has said, it’s getting a bit bubblish (made up word), but you’re also getting in at the ground floor still. I don’t have any TSLA stock and can’t afford any.
