In an e-mail sent by his campaign on Monday, President Donald Trump said wearing masks is “something we should all try to do.”
“Friend,” the letter opens, “I know how difficult the past few months have been. Your unwavering support during this time has not gone unnoticed.” But rather than push for a “contribution,” this time President Trump is asking his supporters for a different sort of help.
“We are all in this together,” the e-mail, signed by Trump, continued, “and while I know there has been some confusion surrounding the usage of face masks, I think it’s something we should all try to do when we are not able to be socially distanced from others.”

I agree this is a staffer’s horrid error but they are supposed to check this stuff, not let idiots send stuff to piss folks off. I am for Trump, but this clueless statement, “What do we have to lose?”, shows contempt for the base.

The disarming attack is to go all in on mail-in voting, which they seem to be starting to do. But, it relies on the base catching a clue that we can visit neighbors and help get republican balots to the box just as well or better than the Dems. Once they get a hit of that, they will be all about stopping mail-in voting.
But, the mask mandates are something we have to fight as a society or winning will simply be losing more slowly.

I haven’t followed any of the rules. I freely hug, play and kiss my neighbors, friends, grandchildren and children. I walk into a store with a mask and take it off as I walk around. I wash my hands, use sanitizer after the checkout and haven’t gotten sick. Neither has anyone I personally know of. I live in an OF community, that is Old Farts. From 85 to 55 not a single sickness, but one death from alzheimers. Of course there are only about 150 people in the neighborhood.
I think there is no pandemic, or epidemic. It was no different than every other year with some people dying. I was fact checked on FB though for writing the shocking news of EAT WELL and take your VITAMINS..... uncalled for Doctorly advice.

If you’re going somewhere there’s likely to be airborne virus then you’re likely better off wearing one. Period.
They’re not magic, but they’re not the mark of the devil either.

Trump knows it’s a bunch of BS but I think he’s setting the stage for in-person voting. He has to convince the pearl clutchers that mail-in voting is not necessary.
OK. Let’s unpack this...I agree with you the campaign emails, texts, etc., can be overwhelming. So, either opt out (they do give you the choice), or just delete and move on (like I do).
Regarding the masks, did the Trump campaign information tell you to wear a mask and offer you only threats and fines? I kind of doubt that, but, if it did, I would certainly not appreciate that and respond to the campaign.
However, if you’re just fed up with the mask discussion, my suggestion is take a deep breath and realize that the Trump campaign sent that same email to millions of people (remember, it’s not all about you) who are all across the spectrum on the mask issue.
Like I said, you’re not going to change your vote and vote for Biden, or sit home because of this email. You’re still going to vote for Trump. So, why the drama? However, someone on the fence may appreciate the Trump campaign recommending the option to wear a mask, therefore, picking up another vote. After all, it’s about getting the most amount of votes in each state to get the electoral votes, right?
The Pandemic fizzled, but we are still on the edge of epidemic. The disease exists and it is deadly for folks who have vitamin D deficiencies, Diabetes and Heart disease. I have known several people who have had it and it sucks. It is real, but nothing to justify what is being done to us.
I’ve found that when you take your mask off in a restaurant, the virus ceases to exist! Unlike bars, where it lays in wait! /Heavy duty sarcasm
It’s an election year...you’re not changing your vote because of this, but someone else may to vote for him. Don’t wear your mask, but realize there are those out there that are scared out of their mind because of the news and fear porn. He’s their President, too...not just yours.
We buy washable masks from our neighbor who makes them herself. We’re not sending money to China.
Trump is doing poorly with seniors because of coronavirus, he is changing his tone to try to win them back. He needs the seniors to get re-elected.

They could be using this massive wave of 20 emails a day to actually pull the party together and get us doing something productive but instead, its like, we will punish you for giving us money. And then this, it was just too much.
No, they aren’t threatening us, but they aren’t defending us either. We are having to face this onslaught of lies and social pressure without allies and this is abandoning us to our own devices even as they beg for our support.
If they ask you a question, its not because they care for the answer, because the answers they offer say nothing about anything. But, it’s just about getting you close to hitting the donate button. But, it’s so ham-fisted and so transparent, it just disgusts rather than inspires.
Sure would be more helpful if we could get the SAME suggestions/advice and not differing ones. I’ve heard so many times - “masks are essential when you can’t social distance” and yet we see people in masks who are NOWHERE near anyone else - people standing at microphones with an audience many feet away from them for instance...WHICH is it? Masks AND social distancing or masks if not social distancing?
I’ll wear them when a store DEMANDS it but I don’t if they don’t....
I wish I could remember where I saw it, but fewer people died in the US during the first six months of this year than died in the same period in 2018 (that most recent year finalized data is available).
Also, it’s been mentioned on here that according to CDC guidelines, we are no longer in and epidemic, much less a pandemic.
I really should start saving links to things like these when I see them.
And on what science do you base this likeliness? None. Because it isn’t so. And, those really fancy masks with the ports, direct the breath of the wearer out in a jet to spray it on you.
But, most people just wear the thing over and over.. because they know its theater. So anything on the outside gets on their hands.
The boxes the masks come in say, this won’t protect you from infections, because they could get sued if they said it does. But qualified immunity protects the government officials (tinpot dictators) who say this has any impact other than teaching you to say “yes sir” to your “betters.”
