Democrats’ ‘War Game’ for Election Includes West Coast Secession, Possible Civil War

Democrats are contemplating secession and potential civil war as they game out possible scenarios for a closely contested election, according to a report by Ben Smith in a New York Times column Sunday.

The bulk of Smith’s column is devoted to the question of how the media will handle Election Night coverage, given that the result may not be known for weeks. Vote-by-mail, which many states have only recently adopted — ostensibly, to prevent the spread of coronavirus in polling places — could lead to an uncertain result.

[...]

In one scenario, John Podesta — the former chair of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign, and a leading figure in party circles — played former Vice President Joe Biden, and refused to concede the election.

The result: the threat of secession by the entire West Coast, followed by the possible intervention of the U.S. armed forces:

Thankfully, I have good friends in Idaho and family in Texas.

Still, I don’t think Washington state would willingly invite the Chinese in to ‘help out’. Governor Inslee enjoys his current power too much, and he’d probably be executed as soon as the Chinese arrived in Olympia. Somehow, I think he knows this, despite the fact that he’s an idiot.

Not sure if the governors of Oregon and California have figured that out yet.

The more “desperate” the situation could be painted by a world media for a “WestCoastUtopialand” bid for freedom. The more likely all sorts of “unwanted” actors could make a play. If they make a play and we crush it. They’ve lost little and depending on how we handle the world media on it we could have bad PR. Of course if someone did that maybe we don’t care about the bad PR. It can’t be dismissed as impossible.

Your original statement was that California had no oil, when in fact they’re the 7th highest oil producing state.

You assume that everyone in California is a Liberal, which is far from the truth. Plenty of Deplorables (as you call them) live in California.

California has borne the brunt of massive immigration (both legal and illegal).

This state used to be conservative (Reagan, Nixon, Etc) but was transformed. The same plan they are going to use on your home state.

I know there are conservatives. I also know they are marginalized and I know the history.

Unfortunately, they are next to silent and most of those who leave are metastases who carry the prog taint to other states.

California belongs to the progs. They own it. Perhaps if the conservatives fought for an equal place, perceptions would change. Instead, we hear:”The weather....”; “My job....”; “My family....”; “The beaches (mountains/redwoods/recreation)....”.

It is unfortunate, but conservatives everywhere need spines.

Prove me wrong.

Let the whole state of CA go. Republicans will win the next 20 general elections.

California would be annexed by Mexico within 10 years.

Don't be ridiculous.

Shove them into the sea and keep the coast.

Which solves nothing.

It’s only a civil war if we try to stop them from seceding... which we would not.

I am not sending my sons and nephews to die to keep that fetid socialist state IN the union.

Oakland is a major seaport, not to mention Long Beach, Wilmington and San Pedro in the Los Angeles area. San Diego is an important naval base. I doubt California would secede formally, or Washington State and Oregon. Even a military basically disloyal to Trump would be forced to end any secession attempts.

They starve in a few weeks as food can’t move.

It is a coastal state and can get all the food they want from other counties and Mexico. Are you suggesting a blockade?

I am sure the USN will be able to operate under lease agreements post secession. There is no need for war.

So if Texas were to secede to create a more perfect Conservative country then would they get the bayonet also?

Republican control can secure Federal Property

Why not just negotiate a treaty and/or a lease agreement? Why the bellicosity?

You are a citizen of a state that has in effect seceded from the American union and you are powerless to do any thing about it.

This is true.

If you took up arms against the CA govt. post secession then you would be considered a traitor to that govt. You will hang.

The Republican party is a big part of the problem in California. Its not so much that the Democrats are loved its that the Republican’s are hated.

In 2018 2 former Republicans ran as Independent for state wide office. 1 Won the other lost with 49% of the vote.

Voting integrity has been compromised since the motor-voter law was passed. The elections have lots of fraud built in. Why do you think they are trying to push these laws in other states?

In 2018 the democrats captured 6 sold republican house seats with ballot harvesting. 250,000 late votes captured these seats. Again they are pushing ballot harvesting all across the country.

Trump is the only Republican who has a spine. That is why they hate him so much. But then he is really not a Republican but conducted a hostile takeover of the Republican party and does not settle for losing.

All true.

Re: California:

Why don’t the Republicans (or conservatives) sue for being disenfranchised? Can they sue in Federal Court? The entire election situation there (and increasingly in other Blue Enclaves) is fraudulent. Can’t that be proven?

The Republican Party in many places is simply a social club. They welcome new members by sticking them with the jobs none of the entrenched want to do, while the Old Guard enjoys the social perks.

Perhaps with the passing of my generation, the more activist younger conservatives will decide to respond against the progs. It shouldn’t be hard, considering there is an increasing vacuum of leadership on the right, mostly due to age and debility.

The big mouthed socialists in California don’t speak for large conservative presence.
