Supreme Court declines to halt Trump border wall
The Hill ^ | July 31, 2020 | John Kruzel

The Supreme Court on Friday declined to block the Trump administration from using $2.5 billion in reallocated Pentagon funds to build a U.S.-Mexico border wall.

In a 5-4 ruling that broke along ideological lines, the court's conservative majority denied a bid by interest groups to halt construction after a federal appeals court last month said the use of defense funding for the project is illegal. The court's four more liberal justices dissented from the ruling.

Almost think we are spending more in court costs than the actual cost to build the wall.

Amazing that our courts even consider issues like this.

The courts have infused themselves into every aspect of government, including taxation, schools, budgets, and life and death.

They are the secular pagan priests of the government worshippers.

Wait, isn’t this all a moot point? Anne Coulter told me the Wall isn’t being built.

Just think about it. If coronavirus didn’t happen, the court may have ruled the other way.

“...broke along ideological lines...”

Conservatism is not an ideology. It is a way of life. It does not seek to change others mods. It has no such needs.

The vote was along ideological lines with conservatives in the majority. I guess, then, that the Never-Trumpers and members of the Lincoln Project should be overjoyed that conservatives and conservatism prevailed...

It may have been along political lines but not ideological. The hill is propagandizing. Pretending we’re in an ideological division. We are not. Liberalism is an ideology. Conservatism is not. The constitution recognizes the necessity of enforcing a border. Leftists seek to destroy that. The constitution is the law. Leftism, an ideology, seeks to break the law

This is true, but only because the political elite use the court system to slow and/or overturn policies and decisions not to their liking..

We have too many blood-sucking lawyers in this country!

I must suppose you are referring to another ridiculous column she wrote asserting the wall will not be built.

I don’t read Coulter anymore. She had a loyal following but then she becomes a nut job never-trumper.

Hardly see her around anymore.

You got that right! This must be the “natural progression” of the left’s lawfare program.

If the peasantry vote incorrectly, you get the judge to make the correction.

The radical left playbook wants them to constantly sue and drag their opponents through the courts. It’s an expensive distraction from any current events that negatively affect them. It’s just a dirty trick.

the fault is not the court but rather the ACLU

So long as there are living attorneys feeding at the ACLU trough, the courts will be misused

Imagine being a jurist who actually thinks part of the defense budget can’t be used for a border wall to DEFEND the country from those outside it who would be break the law. Astounding.

The Judicial Branch is behaving more like the Legislative Branch with each passing decision. Although still pretending their rulings are based on "interpretation of the Constitution" (that is, their rulings are based on the justices doing what they swore they would do) the USSC operates more like the U.S. Senate where rulings are often along party lines and John Roberts, emulating Mike Pence, casts the tie-breaking vote (oops! I meant "ruling").

This represents what the Democrat/Left fears most about Trump's re-election. What they fear is Trump nominating at least two or three justices over the next four years. I think this is the primary motivation behind the actions of the America/American-hating Democrat/Left Party since November 2016.

“Amazing that our courts even consider issues like this. The courts have infused themselves into every aspect of government, including taxation, schools, budgets, and life and death”

And yet there are STILL people here ready to vote Third Party simply because Roberts hasn’t been ‘perfect’ for them.

And while I agree that Roberts certainly could better (a lot better), NOT ONE of those people has been able to point to a Democrat-nominated judge who even comes close to being a moderate, much less a ‘somewhat-conservate’ like Roberts.

...and yet they STILL want more Democrat judges, or else they wouldn’t vote Third Party (and then they’ll bitch to us about those same Democrat judges they helped to install on the bench).

Meanwhile the wall is screaming toward 300 miles completed. Ann Coulter is overjoyed.

5-4

That’s pitiful. The law clearly allows for it. Don’t like it, change the law - in the body that is supposed to do it - and that isn’t a Court.
